Alia Bastamam has become a household name in Malaysia, known for her sophisticated, empowering designs for the modern woman. Her deep-seated passion for fashion led her to launch her eponymous label in 2010, focusing on a minimal luxury resort aesthetic inspired by her tropical roots.

In 2017, she won the Designer of the Year award at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week and received the Decade of Excellence and Brand of the Year awards at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Awards in 2021.

Throughout her career, Alia Bastamam has collaborated with local artists and artisans such as Wasis Studio, Kesya Fatin, Naelofar, and illustrator-model Nia Atasha. Her mission is to showcase her Malaysian heritage globally and achieved that by launching an exclusive resort capsule collection for The Datai Langkawi in 2022. This was followed by Malaysian actress Scha Alyahya gracing the 80th Venice Film Festival red carpet in an all-white Alia Bastamam gown.

Recently, the seasoned designer achieved another milestone— debuting in New York City at Doors NYC. She introduced two fashion collections, Odyssey Act 1 and Odyssey Act II, leading up to the anticipated Odyssey Act III in 2024. Her goal is to be recognised by the CFDA and inclusion in the New York Fashion Week calendar within three years. In the meantime, she is working on her next bridal range, the annual Eid collection, and exciting collaborations for her label and its ready-to-wear division, Alia B.
