If Hong Kong’s budding community of “yappies” (young art patrons) is where it’s at, then Alexandre is a man at the centre of a moment. The French ex-banker moved to Hong Kong from London a few years ago armed with dual passions for Asia and the art world, and has founded two ventures to capitalise on both. As the brains behind Artshare.com, he is responsible for the first online platform that specialises in the exhibition and sale of Chinese contemporary art—an endeavour supported by heavy hitters such as Adrian Cheng and Pearl Lam. In 2014, he also launched The New Circle, an exclusive network connecting young art collectors through a series of private events and sales exhibitions worldwide. With Hong Kong’s appetite for all things arty in the ascendant, the future is bright for Alexandre.
