A pioneer in Taiwan’s digital asset sector
Alex Liu is a pioneer in Taiwan’s digital asset sector, having founded the MaiCoin Group in 2013 to promote the development of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in Taiwan. Liu obtained a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 2002 and subsequently worked at technology companies such as Atheros and Qualcomm in Silicon Valley, accumulating rich technical and management experience. In 2013, he returned to Taiwan to establish the MaiCoin Group, focusing on the application of digital assets and blockchain technology. In 2014, the MaiCoin digital asset trading platform officially launched, becoming the first platform in Taiwan to support Bitcoin trading. Subsequently, in 2016, the group established AMIS, a company dedicated to the development and application of blockchain technology.
Under Liu’s leadership, the MaiCoin Group’s business scope has continued to expand, including MAX digital asset exchange, AMIS blockchain technology and Qubic NFT integration services. Liu stated that the MaiCoin Group plans to go public on Taiwan Innovation Board in 2024, or at the latest in the second quarter of 2025, aiming to become the first listed cryptocurrency exchange in Taiwan.
