The Filipina tennis sensation continues to serve up history-making wins on the global stage
Since bursting onto the international circuit as a teenager, Alex Eala has become a defining figure in Philippine tennis—her rise fuelled by precision, poise and relentless drive. A graduate of the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, she first caught global attention when she captured multiple Grand Slam junior titles, including the 2022 US Open Juniors singles crown, becoming the first Filipina to achieve the feat.
In 2025, Eala’s transition from junior champion to world-class professional reached full stride. She captured her first WTA 125 title at the Guadalajara Open in September and made history as the first Filipina to reach a WTA Tour final at the Eastbourne Open in June. Earlier in the season, she stunned fans with a sensational run to the semi-finals of the prestigious Miami Open, defeating three Grand Slam champions, including world No. 2 Iga Świątek.
Her momentum continued with her first Grand Slam main-draw win at the US Open, cementing her reputation as one of tennis’s brightest emerging talents. By October 2025, Eala broke into the WTA Top 100, reaching a career-high singles ranking of world No. 50—a milestone for both her and Philippine tennis.
