Albert Liu

Founder and CEO, Gamania Digital Entertainment

CEO Albert Liu ensures that the spirit of adventure is built into the DNA of 26-year-old Gamania

Online gaming CEO Albert Liu brought the game of survival to real life when he took on the Polar Challenge in 2008 with marathoner Kevin Lin and student athlete Tommy Chen. Their arduous journey was documented in Yang Li-Chou’s film Beyond The Arctic, which showed the trio battling hypothermia and subsisting on noodles. Ten years later, on the anniversary of the Gamania Cheer Up Foundation, which was established to inspire youth to achieve their dreams through participating in adventurous courses, Liu formed a team to cross-country ski across Antarctica. They were the first expedition from Taiwan to reach the South Pole.

For Gamania, adventure means taking on the next great challenge. In 1999, just as the Internet was taking off, Gamania launched the breakout hit online game Convenience Store, then followed this by setting up Asia’s largest server room for online games. In the last decade, the company expanded into payment technology, e-commerce, and media, becoming an “eco-internet enterprise.”
