Agi Chen

Artist

Through the colour matrixes of popular cartoon characters, Agi Chen created a series of contemporary artworks with historical significance that reflect mass media culture and help evoke visual memory in the public. In 2005, she won the grand prize at the Taipei Arts Awards for her Wednesday of Hau Mau Pau. She was also invited to the ARCUS Project’s artist-in-residence (AIR) programme, sponsored by Mid-America Asian Culture Association, the Taiwan-England Artists in Residence Programme at Loughborough University sponsored by British Council, and the Artist-in-Residence programme at Glenfiddich, Scotland. In recent years, apart from art exhibitions, Agi has produced many cross-border new media shows, including 2018 Happy Together - 101 New Year's Fireworks Show (as director and image co-ordinator), Praying for an Auspicious Celebration – Projection Mapping Show Featuring the Presidential Office Building for the Republic of China (Taiwan) National Day in 2017 (as art director), and the opening ceremony of the Taipei 2017 29th Summer Universiade (as design director and production manager).
