Film and TV writer and producer
For championing Southeast Asian representation in Hollywood
Adele Lim is a versatile creative talent. She has worn the hats of a writer, producer, and director, and has a stellar list of credits, including Crazy Rich Asians, the Oscar-nominated Raya and the Last Dragon, and Joy Ride, which marked her debut as a feature film director. Hailing from Malaysia, Lim has significantly contributed to over a dozen TV drama series, including Private Practice and Lethal Weapon. Notably, she served as a co-showrunner for Star Crossed.
Beyond her creative pursuits, Lim dedicates time to mentoring emerging writers and contributes to organisations such as the Writers Guild of America, Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, showcasing her commitment to equity and representation in entertainment.
In October 2024, it was announced that Lim will helm the production of The Princess Diaries 3 and be tasked to bring back Anne Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis—20 years later. This would mark Lim’s second collaboration with Disney for a production since 2021’s Raya and the Last Dragon.
“Be fearless. Be completely fearless. Don’t be afraid of failure because there is no such thing as failure. The only failure is not trying.”
