Reach for the stars
Hello,
The much awaited Michelin Guide Singapore 2024 results were revealed yesterday through an online announcement, with a total of 51 restaurants earning their well deserved stars. Meta, helmed by chef-owner Sun Kim, was promoted to the coveted list of two-star restaurants thanks to its innovative blend of Korean flavours and modern aesthetic. It's the first time since 2022 that a restaurant has earned its second star, after Cloudstreet and Thevar.
Four new restaurants have also been awarded their first Michelin star, three of them only opened last year. These are Chilean restaurant Araya by chef-owners Francisco Araya and Fernanda Guerrero; Chaleur, known for its French-Japanese cuisine; and Matera, helmed by executive chef Bjoern Alexander who infuses Italian cuisine with bold Asian flavours. Pangium, chef-owner Malcolm Lee’s modern Peranakan restaurant in Botanic Gardens, finally makes the one star list, joining his other restaurant, Candlenut. Hot off its first Michelin star, Pangium is celebrating its second anniversary in style. From June 26, chef-owner Malcolm Lee is offering Flavour Reflections, a new tasting menu that offers highlights from each of its previous six seasonal menus. Expect Peranakan and Eurasian highlights such as spicy mee sua, pang susi, and sagun—each rendered in Lee’s creative approach, of course.
