A personal touch

On April 9, Agustin Balbi’s Michelin-starred Andō won the prestigious Restaurant of the Year Award at the Tatler Dining Awards 2024. The Argentinian chef, who is one of our seven cover stars this month, sat down with us to share the global journey that led him to Hong Kong and international acclaim.

Balbi is known for celebrating his Hispanic heritage throughout his menu, which obviously makes a difference in Hong Kong’s fine-dining landscape. This intimate approach can also be felt in avant-garde couturier Gaurav Gupta’s sculptural creations, inspired by traditional Indian craftsmanship. This is how, similarly, Asian female comedians such as Atsuko Okatsuka and Sindhu Vee bring cultural diversity to the global stage—but this lack of personal touch is precisely what is missing from art made by artificial intelligence, according to experts.

Other newsletter highlights this week:

Dear Tatler readers, just like Agustin Balbi or Gaurav Gupta, don’t forget to add your personal touch to change the world around you. Until next time, have an amazing Friday, and a wonderful weekend!
