Donating blood is one of the simplest, most impactful ways to give back to your community, and you don’t need to wait for a crisis to do it. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned donor, here are eight great spots around the Klang Valley to donate blood, along with a quick PSA on who can (and can’t) donate.

And if you needed a reason to start? Saturday, June 14, marks World Blood Donor Day—a global celebration of the lifesaving act of giving blood. It’s a perfect time to step up, roll up your sleeves and help save lives. Most donation centres will be hosting special events and extended hours, so it's a great time to bring a friend and make an even bigger impact.

Pusat Darah Negara (PDN), Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur

The National Blood Centre is Malaysia’s central hub for blood donation. It’s clean, efficient, and fully equipped. Expect a steady stream of regular donors.

Hours:
Mon to Fri: 7.30am–5.30pm
Sat to Sun and public holidays: 8am–4pm

Location: Jln Tun Razak, Titiwangsa, 50400 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur

PDN & St John Ambulance @ 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya

The PDN and St John Ambulance blood donation suite is one of the most popular mall-based donation points, especially on weekends. This area is accessible from the New Wing basement.

Hours: 11am–7pm

Location: Basement 2, near Samsonite repair counter

PDN Donation Suite at Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

Tucked away on Level 3 of Mid Valley Megamall, this is a convenient option if you're already out shopping or grabbing a bite. Plus, there’s free parking with proof of donation.

Hours: 10am–9pm

Location: Mezzanine Level T‑063, Lingkaran Syed Putra

PDN & St John Ambulance at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya

For residents near Putrajaya or Cyberjaya, this centrally located donation suite is a clean and professional setup.

Hours:
Mon to Fri: 11am–4pm
Sat to Sun and public holidays: 11am—6pm

Location: Basement 3, High Street wing

Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL)

KL’s largest public hospital has a full-fledged blood bank, often catering to urgent needs. Walk-ins are accepted, but you may have to wait.

Location: Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur

Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang

Serving the Klang community, this hospital blood bank is always in need of donors. It is ideal for those in southern Klang Valley.

Location: Persiaran Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang

Harbour Place Mall, Klang – Mobile Drive

Mobile drives like this pop up frequently. One such drive is scheduled for June 21, 2025 at 12pm. Great for walk-ins and first-timers. Check mall events or PDN’s Facebook for more mobile dates.

Columbia Asia Hospitals (Petaling Jaya and Klang)

Columbia Asia hosts regular blood donation drives, often in collaboration with PDN or NGOs. Friendly staff and shorter queues. Drives are occasional—follow their socials for updates.

Can you donate blood?

Before donating, make sure you meet these key requirements:

You can donate if you:

  • Are 18–60 years old (or up to 65 if you’re a regular donor)
  • Weigh at least 45kg
  • Are generally healthy with no recent infections
  • Have not consumed alcohol in the last 24 hours
  • Had a tattoo/piercing more than 6 months ago
  • Slept at least 5 hours the night before


You can’t donate if you:

  • Have a fever, cold or sore throat
  • Have taken antibiotics in the past 7 days
  • Have had dental work in the last 24 hours (or surgery in 6 months)
  • Are pregnant or recently delivered
  • Had a tattoo/piercing in the last 6 months
  • Have certain medical conditions (e.g. hepatitis, HIV, heart issues)

 

Final tip: Bring your MyKad, passport, or donor booklet, and drink plenty of water before you go. The whole process takes about 45 minutes—but could save three lives.
