With new beginnings on the horizon, Tatler’s astrologer Casey Chan explains what it means for each star sign
December 13 will be the highlight of next week as the New Moon and Mercury retrograde coincide. Those with personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus) or rising signs in fiery Sagittarius or earthy Capricorn will be impacted the most.
Every New Moon signifies a new beginning in different areas of our lives, which often carries a positive connotation, and this month’s Dark Moon is no exception. In the sign of optimistic Sagittarius, we are encouraged to positively charge forward with new aspirations. We may feel energised in moving forward with new ideas and inspirations—the key is to trust and have faith in ourselves. Whenever doubts arise, remind yourself that sometimes it is okay to just take the next best step without needing to know where the final destination is.
On the same day, Mercury stations retrograde in the sign of Capricorn: an Earth sign known for being hardworking, strategic, and loyal. From the New Moon until January 2 would be a good time to reflect on our long term goals and strategies, especially in terms of work. More and more people may start to question their paths, considering either a career change or going back to school. While the energy encourages us to reflect and review, it is important we take our time to assess, instead of rushing into big commitments.
