Besides being a safe and nurturing space, the MakatiMed Wellness Center provides services including health screening such as laboratory procedures, primary care consultation, mammography and breast ultrasound, 2D echocardiogram and electrocardiography (ECG), vaccine administration, comprehensive eye exam, medical acupuncture, pap smear, bone mineral densitometry, x-ray procedures, general ultrasound and OB-Gyne ultrasound.
Makati Medical Center (MMC) Healthhub Unit Manager Chin Mocas underscores the importance of having a more accessible space for health-conscious people. “Proactive healthcare and well-being are crucial because they focus on prevention and improving overall quality of life,” he says.
Mocas adds that typically, people will only seek medical help when symptoms have worsened or injuries have already occurred. “This makes treatment more difficult, prolonged and costly,” he says. “The challenge lies in the fact that access to education and resources about proactive health practices is not always widespread, leaving many unaware of the benefits and methods of maintaining well being before problems arise. Without sufficient access, individuals tend to adopt a reactive approach, like addressing health issues only after they become severe.”
