Abe Orobia's artwork at Kinetix+ is a harmonious blend of form and function, offering both aesthetic pleasure and practical instruction in the art of strength training
In an era where health and wellness are ever-present in the public consciousness, gyms are more indispensable than before to keep our bodies in top form. As gyms are mostly built with this function in mind, the result is often relatively austere, rigid, and mechanical environments. Kinetix+, a luxury boutique gym, recognises that such spaces can go above and beyond this established trend, which proves by introducing vibrant works of art that complement its stylish interiors. Paintings by celebrated artist Abe Orobia adorn its walls, elevating the gym-going experience for its discerning clientele.

Orobia is a seasoned artist; his various works and exhibitions have stunned audiences for over two decades. His two most recent exhibitions, Images of the Nation and Unconquerable, were reflections of his experience in the pandemic, and how art is an integral part of society and the human spirit.
Orobia was commissioned at the tail end of 2022 to complete a set of paintings collectively titled Bodies in Motion. These striking pieces breathe life and instil an electrifying energy into Kinetix+, firmly placing it above conventional gyms by bringing in a sense of class not often seen in such spaces. “It’s about energy,” Orobia declared. “It’s about power and strength.”

“I went through several studies using ink on paper and acrylic emphasising movements while I was guided on the proper forms,” he explained. “I textured the canvas with an acrylic medium to add depth and layers.”
Orobia creatively leveraged the use of greyscale and lines to create the impression of force and effort. This is evinced in the raw energy of the barbell-lifting piece, with its bold use of explosions, and in the bench press painting, whose expressive lines give a feeling of strength and perseverance despite the struggles and hardships.

“You can tell a lot by doing the simplest things,” Orobia added. “It was right not to put faces on the subjects to represent everyone. The linear element gives quality to the movement and power.” The faceless nature of his work allows one to insert or better portray themselves as the figures in the paintings—which in turn can develop confidence and a sense of belonging.
“Grey denotes control, insight, and self-worth, all of which gym-goers strive for. They would feel more skilled and exemplary after completing Kinetix+'s training.”
These works of art are thus compelling, inspiring, and wonderfully in tune with what Kinetix+ stands for. They not only elevate the gym’s style, but they also serve as guides for gym-goers to follow. Bodies in Motion demonstrates the proper form one must follow, turning it into a functional yet beautiful display piece.
Kinetix+ redefines what it means to be a gym. It's a place that not only develops the body, but also the mind. This touch of sophistication sets it apart from the rest, and Orobia’s Bodies in Motion is an exemplary addition to its interiors. Find the best version of yourself within this rare fusion of strength and style and give yourself the ideal workout you deserve.
