Everything you need to know about IM8, the athletic nutritional supplement brand co-created by David Beckham and Prenetics

Prenetics CEO and founder Danny Yeung has always believed in providing an accessible, tailored approach to wellness, with a strong focus on preventative health and longevity. The company’s biggest success to date is CircleDNA, which sells affordable at-home test kits to detect disease risk, food sensitivities, personality and behavioural traits, empowering people to take their health into their own hands.

Back in July, Yeung made headlines when it was announced that football star David Beckham had become a shareholder of the Hong Kong-based health sciences company, and that the duo would be co-founding partners of an athletic nutritional supplement brand, IM8.

Yesterday, IM8 officially launched.

IM8 is a daily dose of essential nutrients that claims to boost energy, strengthen immunity, support heart health, promote digestive wellness, enhance cognitive function, optimise hydration, all while nourishing skin, hair and nails.

While Beckham has been linked to a number of protein powders in the past, IM8 marks the first time he is linking up with a supplement brand as a co-founder and investor.

The average person may not have access to the around-the-clock nutrition and medical experts as Beckham, but we can certainly benefit from his experience—namely, what's worked for him when it comes to feeling great and optimising performance.

“As a former professional athlete, I wanted to bring to IM8 my experience and perspective of what’s important in a wellness product,” says Beckham in a statement. “I’m using my years of experience working with global brands and bringing great teams together. I am a customer of these products as well as a founder, and I think that helps me know what people want.”

Yeung, who connected with Beckham at an exclusive event last year, told Tatler, “David is passionate about health and wellness. His global influence and passion for wellness will help us reach a broader audience and elevate the conversation around proactive health management.”

Each serving of IM8 includes a potent mix of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, superfoods, adaptogens, prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics to nourish your body and promote well-being. Its range of products currently include an all-in-one powder—sold either in a canister, or in individual daily sachets ideal for travel—and an aging-focused capsule called Daily Ultimate Longevity.

IM8 proactively addresses one of the biggest criticisms faced by similar all-in-one supplements—which is dosage, and whether or not these products contain enough of each ingredient to make any meaningful impact on one's health—by taking the extra step to have IM8 tested by a third party.

It has also employed an all-star team of experts to make up IM8’s scientific and medical advisory team that includes the likes of Dr Dawn Mussallem, integrative oncologist and lifestyle medicine specialist at Mayo Clinic; Dr James L. Green, former chief scientist at Nasa; Dr David L. Katz, former founding director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Centre.

All of this gives IM8 a unique advantage in the saturated supplement space.

Not to mention the results speak for themselves.

In a 30-day study of 60 participants, it was found that 93 per cent felt a noticeable boost in daily energy labels, 73 per cent experienced greater endurance during physical activity, 60 per cent felt less bloated and had improved digestion, and 60 per cent saw visible changes in the health of their hair, skin and nails.

“It's quite cumbersome when someone is taking a lot of supplementation, so how do we make the process easy?” says Yeung. “We're coming at this [from the angle] that this is a formulation simplifying that process. At the end of the day, we don't want to just sell a supplement. We want to create a lifestyle, and we know about supplements. This is all part of a holistic approach to health.”
