The Natasha Goulbourn Foundation brings you a Jazz concert that promotes mental health awareness and the potential of music therapy to boost one's mood

The Natasha Goulbourn Foundation (NGF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing depression to light through the use of educational lectures, confidential crisis lines and referrals to partner psychologists. As of today, the foundation has multiple partners in promoting mental wellness, these include the World Health Organization (WHO), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) along with top schools such as University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and Miriam College.

One of NGF's newest programmes is a charity Jazz concert to be held at New World Makati Hotel on September 10, 2018. The evening will begin with cocktails at the hotel Ballroom, and will be followed by a series of performances featuring both local and foreign artists. Among these, FIlipino musicians Pilita Corales, Nicole Asensio, Bituin Escalante, and Michael Williams will grace the stage.

With the help and support of the Singaporean Embassy (through Ambassador Kok Li Peng), Singaporean artist, Rani Signam, will also grace the evening with a special performance. Accompanying her from Singapore is the talented, Andrew Lim. Rounding out the star-studded ensemble is Serge Le Goueff, from Australia.

It is the NGF's goal to continue to reach out to those who are unaware or suffering from mental illness (especially those going through it alone or in silence). One of their most successful programmes has been the recently launched, 24/7 Hopeline suicide hotline, which has helped many and continues to reach out to those in need.

Mental Health Awareness is on the rise as of late and it's thanks to the many moving parts that continue to advocate for it. Mental health is not only all about treating diseases, but more so, it is a movement towards wellbeing. All of us can do our part; we can start with ourselves and our loved ones by being more aware of the issues that surround us. Furthermore, we should discover what we can do to help -- no matter how small the gesture.
