The best way to travel like a local is to ask a local. In this series of travel guides, we ask creatives and insiders from our global community to show us their city, their way. This time, we look at Sydney

Last year, pop sensation Dua Lipa posted a photo wearing a ring that took the internet by storm—a “yin yang” ring featuring a diamond and an emerald cast in gold. The woman behind the design was Charlotte Heinrich Freeman, a Sydney-born, Singapore-based jewellery designer.

Freeman’s career has taken her all over the world. And despite having lived in some of the world’s most exciting cities including London, New York and Hong Kong, she says Sydney still has—and will always have her heart.

So, of course, we had to ask her which restaurants, bars, shops and spas she visits when she’s home.

Pellegrino 2000

The secret is out with this one ever since Taylor Swift put it on her hit list when she was in Sydney for her concert earlier this year. Nevertheless, the pasta and sexy vibes always hit at Pellegrino 2000.

Clam Bar

This place delivers a real New York-style grill power lunch punch, bringing out all the favourites of a classic New York diner with total style and class.

Caterpillar Club

This is the kind of place in Sydney that makes you feel like there is a born-again pulse in the city’s nightlife scene. From the menu to the tunes and deep red velvet decor, every corner of this venue brings you a little slice of NYC.

Sean’s

It’s hard not to like this institution of a restaurant located in Campbell Parade in Bondi Beach—it’s right under your nose, but also a bit undercover. The food here hits the right spot every time—delicious, fresh, seasonal local produce. It has a relaxed, fine-dining restaurant vibe with an eclectic mix of artwork on the walls.

10 Williams

A little hideaway gem, 10 Williams is all about intimate dining with an old-school chalkboard menu and wines to be shared with friends new and old. Perfect for a Thursday night rendezvous just off bustling Oxford Street.

Glenmore Road

When I’m back in Sydney, this is the spot where I will go for a quick fix on all my favourite Aussie brands, including Scanlan Theodore, Venroy and Senso Shoes. I’ve lived around the world, and no country beats Aussie designers! On a sunny day, this spot is perfect. You can also find Fenn here!

Fenn

Months before a planned trip to Sydney I book in to the most incredibly relaxing facial. From your head to your toes. Step into this zen zone and prepare to be  pampered with the top of the range products. Located in Sydney’s hottest shopping precinct, Oxford Street. Get organised and book!
