Tinder’s ‘Passport’ feature reveals the countries people visit to up their chances of romance
Dating app Tinder released its Year in Swipe 2024 paper last December, revealing dating habits shaping today's romantic exploits. Things we learned: People are taking charge of their dating life, pursuing partners with intention, and being more vocal about their preferences and goals. What else? They're connecting with matches overseas.
Tinder generally works by matching you to other users in the area. However, the app's Passport feature, which was offered for free during the pandemic, allows users to change their location settings in order to find matches in other countries. Imagine connecting with someone from Tuscany. It casts a wider net for lonely hearts.

Finding a love match on Tinder Passport doesn't automatically mean the user travels overseas to meet a potential partner. According to statistics, only one meetup occurs for every 57 Tinder matches—and those numbers go down exponentially when travelling is involved.
The report also reveals users’ favourite dates include going to the beach, hiking, watching concerts, bowling, and painting.
