Ladies, pack your bags because you are in for the solo trip of your dreams—safety scores included

Going on a solo trip can be a huge decision to make. Whether you’re an aspiring solo traveller looking for that extra push of motivation, or a seasoned jet-setter, there is always a leap of faith to take when booking that one travel destination you’ve dreamt about. For female solo travellers, the most pressing concern is their safety. Travelling to a new and unfamiliar country may be daunting for many, but if you’re anything like Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat, Pray, Love—it’s never too late to start.

Travel and entertainment app Bounce had previously sought to find out the safest countries in the world by analysing statistics such as the percentage of women who have experienced violence, the number of female homicide victims, and the percentage of women who feel safe walking alone at night. The app also studied different countries’ attitudes towards violence against women, laws on domestic violence, and the global gender gap index score. With all these factors measured and considered, it’s safe to say that these countries that have made the list are ideal for female travellers.
