Boss House Bali is perfect for the stylish jet-setter looking for the Boss experience

Boss House Bali is a takeover of a six-bedroom villa that’s designed by architect Alexis Dornier. Dornier founded his eponymous architectural studio in 2008, and has been based in Bali for 11 years. He’s realised several architectural marvels within the tropical island, including Lost Lindenberg and Bond Bali.

Upon arrival, you’re greeted with its resident doggo, an adorable Dalmatian named Pepper, fitted with Boss’s pup accessories. Boss beachwear—from sun bed throws to beach towels—in shades of black, cream, and orange are neatly scattered throughout the expansive property.

Boss’s signature fragrance line, Boss The Collection, is also available at the entrance of the compound for guests to pair scents with every occasion. Its refreshing Sensual Geranium works immaculately if you’re heading out for brunch, while its sultry Magnetic Musk would be the perfect scent for dinner dates.

A villa manager is on-site every day till 11pm to cater to guests’ special requests, such as arranging for transportation, providing recommendations to the best Balinese spas, engaging private chef services, and more.

The three-storied Boss House Bali has six beautifully furnished rooms, with each being spacious enough to accommodate two to four guests. Each suite comes with a carefully selected set of products from Boss’s homewear collection—think branded linen, bath robes, and monogram bed spreads.

A welcome gift pack comprising Boss’s lifestyle essentials, which includes a beach backpack, a notebook, a ballpoint pen, and a thermal water bottle, is also bestowed to guests for them to truly immerse in that Boss experience.

The common spaces in the villa do not pale in comparison. On the ground level, Boss House Bali has a dining space that comfortably seats ten, an indoor air-conditioned living room, as well as a sprawling patio. Two suites are located on the ground level, while four bedrooms are situated on the top floor.

The basement is all about recreation. There’s a pool table, a sunken outdoor lounge, an ice bath by Solace, a chef’s kitchen, and an expansive lawn that can be transformed into an al fresco dining space to host dinner parties when needed.

While the villa’s communal space is as breathtaking as its rooms, we dare say that the pièce de résistance is its pool. Situated right in the middle of the spacious manor, the dipping pool comes with a slide (!!!). There are aplenty of Balinese villas that have accompanying pools, but none that we know of comes with a slide. Correction. Right now we know of one, and that’s Boss House Bali.

Over at Boss House Bali, you’re free to roam the island. You can borrow one of its bicycles to explore the amazing wonders of the island on your own. 

However, if you’d like to have an itinerary, the villa manager can arrange a list of activities curated to your fancy. After all, you’re the boss at Boss House Bali.

Our villa manager selected a therapeutic session at Spring Spa for us, because we were in need of R&R (who isn’t?). We went for its Spring Signature Massage, a 60-minute long treatment that kicked off with a comprehensive foot bath before a full body oil rub down.

Fitness aficionados, you’ll be pleased to know that every booking made with Boss House Bali comes with a complimentary yoga session in the villa. Yoga instructors may vary based on their schedule. We were guided through the session by Doris, a yoga expert and enthusiast who’s been living in Bali for almost a year.

Apart from the line-up of amazing activities Boss has to offer, the Maison also pays homage to Balinese culture. The array of crockery in the villa is from Bali-based pottery label Kevala Ceramics, with a special terracotta ceramic mug designed just for Boss House Bali. Its bracelets for VICs (very important customers) are exclusively realised by Candri, a Balinese jewellery label by designer Kadek Gunadi that specialises in crafting accessories with amulets like the hamsa and evil eye.

Naturally, Boss has got your backs (and tummies) covered. Daily continental breakfast—which includes healthy options like fruit spreads and smoothie bowls, and heartier plates like smoked salmon and eggs cooked to your liking—is provided at Boss House Bali.

But if you desire to expand your culinary horizons, we say go. Go out. Venture out of the villa and be amazed by the gastronomical havens and watering holes you can find around Boss House Bali.

For instance, Bar Vera, a contemporary Parisian restaurant, is approximately 700 metres away, or a ten-minute-long stroll, from the residence.

This 65-seater diner has wabi-sabi interiors, a moody but lively atmosphere, and, of course, delectable food. Founded by chef Benjamin Cross, a renowned figure in Bali’s F&B industry, Bar Vera’s plates are made with locally sourced produce and French techniques. Our favourites? The Red Snapper Tartare, Potato Bread, and Pork Chop (not pictured).

Another one of our favourites is M. Mason Bar. Located in Canggu, this restaurant offers delightful dishes that will tantalise your tastebuds. Pair its Wood Fired Flat Bread with the Burnt Chilli Butter Hummus. Meanwhile, the Chopped Broccoli Salad is healthy, savoury, and nutty, all at the same time.

Seafood lovers will be satiated with its Half Shell Hokkaido Scallop doused in XO butter, as well as the Giant Papuan Prawn that’s grilled with savoury seaweed butter.

We also chanced upon Hawker, a pseudo-speakeasy located behind M. Mason Bar’s dining courtyard. It opens from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 6pm, and specialises in modern Asian snacks, like dumplings and skewers. Over on the drinks menu, you’ll find a list of carefully curated cocktails—we recommend the Back Room With a View, a G&T with raspberry, and the Espresso Martini.

Boss House Bali is the place to be if you want to explore Bali in style. Whether it’s pampering yourself at a spa or boosting your health with yoga in the morning, Boss has got all the grounds covered for you to fully be immersed in that Boss experience.

For first-timers, you could ‘Be Your Own Boss’ and not lift a finger by getting its villa manager to curate a list of activities for you, as well as arranging for a private driver (though at an extra cost) to chauffeur you around Bali.
