Among the top bane for most people while flying is the lack of privacy, which is almost non-existent when it comes to air travel. Even in first class, you’ll have neighbours who easily have full view of what you’re up to and vice versa.
Korean Air, one of the pioneers of luxury travel in the country, intends to change all that with its new Prestige Suites, made to focus on the comfort and, more importantly, privacy of its premium customers.
Its Prestige Class has long sat at the top of many luxury travellers’ list when it comes to getting from Point A to B in comfort. Upping the ante, the airline has revamped the entire section to introduce its Prestige Suites, a concept based on cabin-style allocations so customers may take off in ultimate privacy.

Optimising space, the new cabin seats automatically slide down out of sight with its armrest disappearing completely into a full flat bed, allowing an increased seat width of 22.5 inches against the initial 21 inches.
Privacy panels installed between the seats will then be raised, to emulate a little cabin of your own. Each seat is equipped with an ottoman, where passengers can rest their feet, or have friends and family sit on for a private chat. These ottomans are more often seen in the first class cabins of other airlines.
The configuration of the seat was also designed to allow passengers by the window to pass into the aisle without disturbing the aisle passenger, with an increased window pitch of 12 inches to 87 inches from the previous layout.
The new Prestige Suite also comes equipped with a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system.
All its handsets feature a touchpad to be used like how one used a smartphone, allowing passengers access to a whole world of new movies, music games or information service. All details about the flight, from location and altitude to estimated time of arrival and more, will be available at the touch of a finger.
Inflight entertainment system monitors have also been upgraded to a capacitive touch screen with higher resolutions and a size of 17 inches.
The new Prestige Suites will make their debut on Korean Air A330-300s craft on the Guangzhou, Singapore and Hanoi routes. Korean Air has another 38 crafts on order – 6 A330-300s, twelve B777-300ERs, ten B747-8is and ten B787-9s – all of which will be delivered with the new Prestige Suites seats.
