From Saudi Arabia to the Caribbean, Archipelago Hotels is building one of the world's fastest-growing hospitality portfolios, bringing Indonesian hospitality to an ever-expanding global audience.

Indonesia has long been known for its world-class destinations, but increasingly, it is also exporting something else: hospitality expertise. At the centre of that story is Archipelago Hotels, the Jakarta-headquartered management company that has grown from a boutique hotel operator into the largest privately owned hotel management group in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Today, its portfolio spans more than 45,000 rooms across over 350 properties in more than 200 destinations, with a presence reaching far beyond the region into Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Oceania.

Founded in 2005, Archipelago Hotels set out with a vision, to prove that an Indonesian hospitality company could compete on the international stage while remaining rooted in the warmth and understanding of local culture. Two decades later, that ambition has evolved into a global expansion strategy built on an asset-light operating model, technology-driven management, and carefully selected partnerships.

The company's recent milestones offer a glimpse into just how ambitious that vision has become. In Saudi Arabia, Archipelago has partnered with Knowledge Economic City (KEC) to develop one of Madinah's largest hotel projects, comprising around 2,500 rooms. It has also entered the luxury lifestyle space through a new partnership with Italian brand Tonino Lamborghini, launching Tonino Lamborghini Hotels by Huxley alongside a collection of branded residences. The first development is set for the Dominican Republic, with future projects planned across Mexico, Indonesia and the Philippines.

That international momentum is matched by steady growth at home. This year alone, the group has expanded its Indonesian portfolio with the openings of Aston Cimone Hotel & Convention Center, Aston Malang Hotel & Conference Center and fave+ Hotel Lampung, while continuing to strengthen its presence in the Caribbean through new properties in the Dominican Republic. The expansion has also earned global recognition, with Archipelago recently named the world's 42nd largest hotel group by room count, the only Indonesian hotel management company to make the ranking.

Part of the company's appeal lies in the breadth of its portfolio. Today, Archipelago oversees 13 award-winning brands, each designed for a different type of traveller. From the trusted familiarity of Aston and the family-friendly appeal of Quest to Harper's boutique charm, Kamuela's private villas and Huxley's lifestyle-driven concept, the collection spans business travel, city breaks, family holidays and luxury escapes alike. Frequent travellers can also enjoy exclusive room and dining privileges through the Archipelago Membership programme.

Behind the scenes, technology continues to shape the guest experience. Across its hotels, digital innovations and Google Nest-powered in-room services make everything from requesting amenities to accessing hotel information more seamless. The company has also introduced initiatives that make travel more inclusive, including the Water Wheel at Aston Anyer Beach Hotel, which allows guests with mobility challenges to enjoy the beach more comfortably.

Food has become another avenue through which the company connects with guests. After the success of its Korean-inspired 60 Seconds to Seoul campaign, which received the Marketeers OMNI Brands of the Year 2026 award, Archipelago is turning its attention to Japan with 60 Seconds to Tokyo, a culinary campaign running from July through December 2026 that brings Japanese-inspired dishes to participating hotels across its network.

As Indonesian hospitality continues to earn recognition on the world stage, Archipelago Hotels is helping shape that conversation. What began as a homegrown hotel management company has turned into an international hospitality player, one that is proving that Indonesian hospitality can be just as influential as the places that inspired it.
