Outdoor dining and drinking restrictions lift in London April 12, and The Dorchester has its Champagne bubbles at the ready

After four long months of tier-four lockdown here in England, restrictions on outdoor dining and drinking will finally lift on April 12—and, in London, along with the return of its Terrace & Garden and the al fresco Spring Garden, The Dorchester is set to debut its first-ever rooftop restaurant and bar

Just in time to celebrate the hotel's 90th anniversary on April 20th, the new rooftop restaurant and bar—aptly named 'The Dorchester Rooftop'—boasts views over Hyde Park and East London. It will host a series of culinary pop-ups led by executive chef Mario Perera and The Dorchester's culinary stars, including Tom Booton, who will showcase the best of local produce with a "land, sea, and garden menu" featuring ribeye with mushrooms and tarragon, prawn Scotch egg with curry sauce, and barbecued leeks with ricotta and salsa verde; and Jean Philippe Blondet, the executive chef of Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, will design an informal menu of small plates and bites including hummus, seaweed crisp and lemon confit, grilled octopus, confit pepper and grapefruit, and native lobster, spiced avocado and shiso leaves.

Open daily from noon to 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Sunday (and until midnight Thursday through Saturday), the bar and restaurant will feature a lounge area, tables, with blankets, heaters and umbrellas (it's still England, after all) available, as well as live music and DJs.

Elsewhere, al fresco, The Dorchester Terrace & Garden will reopen this season in the hotel's forecourt with just seven tables for two and serving Italian bites and small plates along with a cocktail menu created by Giuliano Morandin and his team at The Bar at The Dorchester.

The Spring Garden, which is situated under the hotel's plane tree, is home to two garden globes which seat up to five each. Available to book for lunch or dinner menus from April 12, garden globe guests are each served a glass of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Vintage 2004—perfect for raising a toast to the end of lockdown.
