Cathay Pacific Business Class on board its A350 fleet is the airline's most premium offering yet. Here's how it's paving the way in comfort, class and conservation on long-haul journeys

Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific is roaring back to life as travel resumes in the region. In late 2019, the award-winning airline introduced a new business class experience on board its fleet of A350 aircraft, which few have been able to enjoy until now.

Cathay Pacific's fleet of Airbus 350 is one of the most technologically advanced jetliners in the skies. Constructed of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, its lighter weight offers 25 per cent fuel savings. It also boasts the lowest carbon emission and fuel burn of any wide-body aircraft in its class.

On board, the newer A350-1000 aircraft has a total of 334 seats, including an exclusive 46 in Business Class.

Cathay Pacific has always led the way as a trendsetter in premium in-flight offerings, particularly when it comes to long-haul business class. It was the first in Asia to introduce flat-bed style seating in business class back in 2001, with many airlines following suit shortly after. The coveted feature now comes standard in almost all airlines—thank you, Cathay!

Comfort in the Clouds

Designed by award-winning Austrian design firm, Studio F.A. Porsche, the Cathay Pacific A350 Business Class seat transforms into the airline's most generous Business Class bed yet, complete with dreamy, soft-to-touch bed linens.

Known for its expertise in ergonomics, comfort, and function, Studio F.A. Porsche have made it so that side storage space becomes part of the bed when closed, allowing for a more generous bed surface to accommodate passengers' preferred sleeping positions.

Passengers are also treated to a world-class wellness experience with complimentary amenity kits filled with natural skincare products by Bamford. The revered British brand is also behind the luxurious mattress pad, duvet, and pillows, made from sustainably sourced materials. Slippers and eye masks are also available for added comfort.

Elevated Extras

The new Cathay Pacific Business Class has kept many of the features we know and love about the airline's award-winning luxury long-haul product: Sculpted seat wings for a balanced sense of privacy and openness; window-facing outboard seats with spectacular views; a generously-sized cocktail table that can double as an additional working surface; thoughtful design that offers plenty of storage without feeling cluttered; and a seat that tracks forward to provide a great companion travel experience.

That said, some fabulous upgrades have been made, too.

Each Business Class seat on board the A350 features an 18.5” personal television, as well as an innovative new 4.3” video handset, allowing the passenger to enjoy multiple functions at once. For the first time, passengers can use the entertainment system to let the cabin crew know when to wake them, and when not to disturb them. On long-haul flights, passengers can even request a wake-up call for meal service and landing.

A Taste of Home

Cathay Pacific believes that "to eat well is to travel well", and have gone to great lengths to ensure that a memorable culinary journey begins on board.

Business Class passengers have access to Cathay Pacific's Choose My Meal service, selecting from an extensive menu to customise their onboard dining experience. As well as being a neat pre-boarding feature, Choose My Meals offers insights into passengers' preferential meal options, ultimately helping to reduce food waste.

There's an emphasis on regional Asian classics, including Hainan Chicken Rice with traditional condiments and Cathay Pacific's signature dim sum and congee breakfast. The airline has also introduced a new range of Hong Kong favourites to its Business Class menu, inspired by the city's dynamic food culture. Think char siu pork with egg noodles, wok-fried seafood in lobster soup with ginger, and a refreshing dessert of mango with pomelo and sago.
