Hilton brings luxury to Cáceres with Palacio de Godoy, a 16th-century palace reimagined for today’s traveller

Francisco Godoy, the 16th-century Spanish conquistador, had a residence in Cáceres that has now been restored and converted into a Hilton hotel. The Palacio de Godoy Cáceres, part of Hilton's Curio Collection, is a 73-room property that opened in 2025, combining historic architecture with modern facilities. Originally built in 1563, the palace stands in the Unesco World Heritage-listed old town of Cáceres, a city recognised for its preserved medieval architecture and the presence of Jewish, Muslim and Christian influences.

A €14 million restoration

The restoration, which cost about €14 million, retained original architectural details while introducing contemporary elements. The palace includes a garden designed by Álvaro de la Rosa, inspired by native plants and species from the Americas, reflecting Godoy's ties to Peru. Hilton’s presence in Cáceres through this project highlights the development of luxury tourism in Extremadura, a region less visited by international travellers.

Design, dining and rooftop views

The hotel offers a spa, indoor pool and gym, as well as a rooftop bar named Bar Virú with views of the old city and surrounding landscape. Dining is centred on Mamay Aldana restaurant, led by chef Antonio Manuel Céspedes Rodríguez, whose menus explore cultural exchanges from Spain’s colonial period and honour Godoy's mother. Event spaces are available for a range of social and business functions.

A new luxury chapter for Cáceres

The Palacio de Godoy Cáceres is the first Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Extremadura, operated by Panoram Hotel Management and developed by Scipion Real Estate. It employs about 60 people locally and contributes to positioning Cáceres within the market for high-end tourism, complementing the city’s established historical importance with an additional hospitality offering.
