In the heart of Pererenan, a bold new fitness concept is redefining the boundaries between discipline and design, performance and peace. Wrong Gym may not follow the rules, but it’s setting a new standard for what modern wellness can look and feel like

There are gyms, and then there’s Wrong Gym—a concrete sanctuary in Bali that dares to challenge not only your body, but your perception of what a wellness space should be. Since opening in 2023, it has quietly disrupted the global fitness conversation by delivering a design-led, experience-driven approach shaped by contrast, pairing intense training with moments of calm, and structured discipline with space to recover.

Founded by Duccio Calamai and Karen Liao, Wrong Gym began as a personal mission to reimagine the relationship between body, mind, and movement. Headquartered within Pererenan’s coastal surroundings, the space invites members to embrace discomfort, shed ego, and arrive at something more lasting: transformation from the inside out.

In case you missed it: A sanctuary in the wild

Rather than taking cues from commercial gyms, Wrong Gym cultivates a full-spectrum experience. “People may tell you that you’re wrong about something,” says Calamai. “But when you know it’s right for you, you must have the arrogance to keep going for it.”

The journey begins upon arrival. Spread across 3,000 square metres, the grounds are an intentional choreography of contrast—raw stone, earthy textures, and high-performance machines arranged across distinct zones. From the Hell Room to the rooftop Heaven, each area is designed to evoke a different state of being. In between, rooms such as the Booty Room and Panic Room reflect a certain humour and intentionality.

Classes range from strength training and martial arts to yoga, pilates and breathwork, led by international coaches with Olympic pedigrees and specialist expertise. For those seeking deeper insight, The Lab provides biometric analysis and AI-enhanced performance metrics, showcasing the gym’s commitment to transformation at every level.

Wrong Gym is far more than its training protocols. The recovery experience is as integral as the workout: think sauna, steam room, ice baths and a wellness cafe framed by open-air rice fields. Morning offerings pay homage to Balinese ritual while partnerships with local artisans and neighbouring brands further root the space in its community. This sense of balance is central to Wrong Gym’s authenticity.

As Wrong Gym builds towards a constellation of spaces around the world, it remains grounded in its founding values. Here, being “wrong” simply means doing things differently. It’s not just a space for physical fitness, but for personal growth.
