This event not only celebrated the legacy of an acclaimed polo player but also showcased his family’s commitment to sustainable initiatives
The E Zobel Foundation, Inc (EZF) successfully held the 19th Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup this year to honour the sport and the founder himself, Enrique Zobel.
Zobel, better known as EZ, was one of the most acclaimed polo players in the Philippines, serving as Manila Polo Club’s president in 1963 and 1964. The industrialist and philanthropist played a significant role in developing Makati into a financial hub and pioneered in integrating social responsibilities into corporate governance.
His son, Iñigo, continues to uphold the family legacy in polo, inheriting his father’s talent in this sport of kings, and being considered one of the finest polo players in the country today. The son also inherited his father’s business empire, sitting as chairman of Top Frontier Investment Holdings and heading numerous other corporations engaged in real estate, mining, food and beverage, and finance, among others.

Officially starting the Zobel Cup was the traditional parade of championship horses and the ceremonial ball throw-in Iñigo’s daughters, Paola and Natalia. They were joined by PGA Cars Chairman Roberto Coyiuto III, PGA Cars President Benedicto Coyiuto, MPC President Robert Vergara, and MPC General Manager Carla Gonzales Maramara.
Presenting the Zobel Cup was longtime partner Porsche Philippines, with a selection of Porsche sports cars and SUVs showcased at the event. Included in the parade of cars was the 100 per cent electric Porsche Taycan—a model that illustrates the brand’s thrust towards achieving sustainable and carbon-neutral mobility.
Reflecting Porsche’s sustainability initiatives are the EZF’s environmental programmes, such as coastal and marine preservation, disaster mitigation and eco-tourism. Complementing these are projects addressing health, culture and the arts, women’s empowerment and education—the latter being the pillar on which all the other initiatives rest.
