近期,不少羽球球友都在哀號,羽毛球價格怎麼漲得比股票還快?過去買一桶羽毛球還覺得小錢,現在卻得多掏個三、四成,甚至被網友調侃「羽球快變成貴族運動」。更讓人驚訝的是,這波羽毛球漲價潮,竟然跟「豬肉價格下跌」脫不了關係?

這可不是網路上謠傳,而是全球羽球市場的真實現況。根據外媒報導,中國羽毛球用球的價格在短短半年內就暴漲超過 40%,像是大家常用的 Yonex、RSL,不僅價格翻漲,還一度出現缺貨。其背後原因牽扯到鴨、鵝羽毛供應緊縮,加上中國境內羽球人口激增,需求直線上升,讓這顆看似輕盈的小羽球,變成了一門昂貴的生意。

很多人可能沒想過,一顆羽毛球其實需要極高的原料成本。比賽級羽球必須使用 16 根來自鴨或鵝翅膀的羽毛,排列整齊、角度精確,才能確保飛行軌跡穩定,有些頂級羽球甚至需要四隻鵝的羽毛才能製成。這也意味著,只要羽毛供應量稍有波動,羽毛球的生產成本就會立刻被放大。

為什麼豬肉跌,羽球卻漲?

中國是羽毛球與羽毛的最大生產國,但自從非洲豬瘟過後,豬肉市場恢復供應,價格一路下降,2024 年豬肉價格甚至跌到每公斤 14.95 元人民幣(約新台幣 63.84 元),僅是高峰期的一半。根據了解,在中國,豬肉是最主要的肉類食品,官方數據顯示,每年中國人要吃掉大約 7 億頭豬。換句話說,只要市場上的豬肉供應稍微不足,價格就會大幅上升。反過來,如果供應量很穩定、價格處於「合理偏低」的狀態,對農民來說,養豬反而是有穩定市場、保證能賣得掉的安全生意。非洲豬瘟爆發後,豬隻數量一度大減,豬肉價格飆,。隨著幾年內養殖戶大量恢復產能,豬隻供應量回升,價格自然下降,但即便價格比高峰期低很多,養豬仍舊是最「穩定有保障」的選擇,因為需求量實在太大。相比之下,鴨和鵝的需求就小得多。

當市場上豬肉價格便宜、消費者更願意買豬肉時,鴨鵝的市場需求相對縮小,這讓農民衡量後,更傾向把資源投入到養豬,而不是養鴨養鵝,久而久之,羽毛的產量就跟著下降,羽毛球的原料自然變貴。湖南一位羽毛收購商透露,如今鴨毛價格已經漲到 每 500 公克 20 元人民幣(約新台幣 851 元),而鵝毛則高達 40 元人民幣(約新台幣 171 元),與去年相比,漲幅高達五成。當羽毛變得稀缺,廠商別無選擇,只能把成本轉嫁到消費者身上,於是羽球價格一再攀升。

球友荷包大喊吃不消

價格的飆升,讓不少球友哀號「打球不如打工」。北京一名年輕愛好者張正洋回憶,自己常用的 RSL No.5 羽球,疫情前只要 70 元人民幣(約新台幣 299 元),如今已經漲到 115 元(約新台幣 491元)。而 Yonex AS-05 在短短半年內從 210 元人民幣(約新台幣 897元)漲到 275 元(約新台幣 1,174 元),漲幅高得驚人。在印度,情況也不遑多讓,根據了解,進口羽毛球的價格在 16 個月內從 1,200 盧比(約新台幣 415元) 飆到 3,000 盧比(約新台幣 1,038 元),幾乎翻了三倍。對於羽球學院或訓練營來說,這樣的漲幅簡直是沉重打擊。

合成羽球能解套嗎?

為了避免羽毛短缺長期拖垮比賽,國際羽球總會(BWF)已經著手推動合成羽球。這些以新材料製成的羽球,不依賴動物羽毛,壽命更長,也更符合永續環保的理念。目前市場上已經有部分社交用合成羽球獲得好評,但在專業賽事中,許多選手仍然抱怨手感差異。

印度前世界冠軍辛度(P.V. Sindhu)就表示,如果真的別無選擇,選手們也只能適應,但她本人至今仍無法判斷,合成羽球能否真正取代傳統羽球。這場技術與傳統的角力,恐怕還需要時間驗證。
