In a thrilling convergence of sports and aviation, Manchester United has entered into a partnership with Malaysia Airlines, marking a new chapter in global travel and football

Malaysia Airlines and Manchester United have announced a multi-year partnership which will see the airline become the football club’s official commercial airline.

“We are delighted to announce this exciting partnership with Manchester United, a club synonymous with excellence and sporting passion around the world,” said Izham Ismail, group managing director of Malaysia Aviation Group. He added that the collaboration brings together two global icons, Malaysia Airlines and Manchester United, and will create unforgettable experiences for their fans and customers.

The announcement was made at an industry trade fair in Kuala Lumpur which was also attended by former Manchester United defenders Patrice Evra and Wes Brown as well as Victoria Timpson, the CEO of Alliances and Partnerships for Manchester United.

“We have three official Malaysian supporter’s clubs, with the Kuala Lumpur branch boasting one of the club’s largest supporter communities, reflecting the country’s love of all things United. We are very pleased to welcome Malaysia Airlines to our family of partners and look forward to sharing with our global fans its trusted, welcoming and hospitable service,” says Timpson.

Malaysia Aviation Group also recently reported its 2023 financial year results which sees the airline returning to black as it posted its first-ever net profit after interest and tax of RM 766 million, an increase of close to RM 1.1 billion compared with a net loss of RM 344 million in the previous year. Its revenue increased 31 per cent to RM 13.85 billion, compared with RM10.6 billion in 2022.
