The David Beckham-owned team secured their victory with three goals in the second half

The highly anticipated Tatler XFEST exhibition match between a specially invited Hong Kong Team and Inter Miami CF on February 4 marked the revival of international sports in the city, and saw a stunning win from David Beckham-owned team.

Ahead of the match, musical performances from local rising star Gareth T, and Keung To and Anson Lo of boyband Mirror entertained the crowd, which had started to fill the stadium as soon as the gates opened at 12.30pm. Gareth T performed Hyperromantic and Emergency Contact, before To and Lo performed their solo numbers—Dark Moon and On, respectively—before delivering an energetic rendition of Rumours together.

The performers were followed by a dragon dance ceremony—and the stadium erupted into deafening cheers when Beckham walked on to the pitch to be a part of the ceremony.

Finally, the players of Inter Miami CF and Hong Kong Team entered the pitch for the long-awaited game.

Throughout the first half, Hong Kong Team held its own against the visitors. Just before the 40 minute mark, Robert Taylor scored the first goal for Inter Miami CF, and just two minutes later, Henri Anier scored for Hong Kong Team, making for a nail-biting end to the first half of the Tatler XFEST match.

After a short break, during which a crossbar challenge saw competitors try their luck at winning a BMW i4, the second half kicked off.

Within the first five minutes of the second half, Lawson Sunderland scored Inter Miami CF’s second goal. And that was followed shortly after by a goal from Leonardo Campana at the 55 minute mark.

The second half of the game continued to be filled with tension, with the crowds chanting over and over for Messi to enter the pitch. At the 84 minute mark, Ryan Sailor scored Inter Miami CF’s fourth goal.

The remaining six minutes remained goalless resulting in a 4-1 win for the US team.
