At the recent Hong Kong Tennis Classic, held from January 6 to 9 at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, former world number ones Maria Sharapova and Yevgeny Kafelnikov clinched the Gold Group Trophy for their team.

The exhibition event drew in notable names to the court such as Chinese superstar Zheng Jie, captain for team Asia-Pacific, Venus Williams, captain for team Americas, Caroline Wozniacki, the world number four as captain for team Europe, and Sharapova for team Russia.

Among the men were Michael Chang, Swedish tennis star Stefan Edberg and Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan.
