While Tatler's initial announcement focused on Eala’s homecoming following her inaugural WTA 500 victory in Washington and breakthrough campaign at Wimbledon, her opponent brings equal historic momentum to the court. Facing Eala in the marquee singles match is Indonesia’s No. 1 player, Janice Tjen—the first Indonesian woman to win a WTA singles title since the 1990s and a groundbreaking main-draw contender at the US Open.

"I’m really looking forward to playing Alex in Manila and being part of such a special occasion," says Tjen. "It’s exciting to see the passion for tennis in the Philippines, and I’m sure it will be an incredible experience playing in front of such a big crowd."

For Eala, the opportunity to headline a 52,000-seat arena on home soil marks a personal and professional pinnacle. "I’ve always dreamed of playing in front of a home crowd, and now that dream is becoming a reality," Eala reflects. "To step onto court at the Philippine Arena with Filipino fans behind me will be a moment I’ll never forget."

Elevating the full-day program beyond a traditional tournament, six of the Philippines’ most celebrated personalities will take to the court for a celebrity exhibition match. Cultural icon Anne Curtis, popular actors Piolo Pascual and Julia Barretto, digital creator Andrea Brillantes and youth ambassador Donny Pangilinan will join forces to open the afternoon’s festivities.

Setting a global benchmark

With the Philippine Arena configured for more than 52,000 spectators, the event is positioned to surpass the world attendance record for a live tennis match—a mark set in 2020 when 51,954 fans gathered in Cape Town for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s Match in Africa.

In keeping with the event's core mission of youth empowerment, Tatler Philippines is collaborating with local community organizations to provide courtside access and opening-ceremony participation for aspiring junior athletes across the country.
