From back-to-back gymnastics golds to sprawling medals in MMA, karate and many more, here are the Filipino athletes who have reached the podium at the 2026 Asian Games

Against some of Asia’s sporting heavyweights, the Philippines is holding its own in Aichi-Nagoya.

Carlos Yulo led the early charge with back-to-back golds in gymnastics. Then came more podium finishes across athletics, MMA, karate, soft tennis, sepak takraw, weightlifting, esports and 3x3 basketball. By the end of September 29, Team Philippines had collected 18 medals: three golds, three silvers and 12 bronzes.

Here are the Filipino athletes and teams who have reached the podium so far.

Gold

Carlos Yulo — Men’s floor exercise, artistic gymnastics

Yulo opened the Philippines’ gold-medal account by winning the men’s floor exercise on September 24. The two-time Olympic champion scored 14.666 to claim his first Asian Games gold, completing a collection of major international titles that includes Olympic, world, Asian and Southeast Asian Games golds.

Carlos Yulo — Men’s vault, artistic gymnastics

Less than 24 hours later, Yulo struck again. He posted an average of 14.599 across two vaults—14.733 on his first and 14.466 on his second—to beat Iran’s Mahdi Olfati and claim his second gold in Nagoya. The victory also mirrors his two Olympic titles from Paris 2024, where he won gold in both floor exercise and vault.

EJ Obiena — Men’s pole vault, athletics

Obiena delivered the Philippines’ third gold on September 29, defending his Asian Games pole vault title in record-breaking fashion. He cleared 5.91 metres, improving the Games record of 5.90m that he had set in Hangzhou in 2023.

Silver

Jean Claude Saclag — Men’s traditional -65kg, MMA

Saclag delivered the Philippines’ first silver medal of the Games in MMA’s Asian Games debut. The veteran combat sports athlete reached the men’s traditional -65kg final before losing 0-3 to Tajikistan’s Otabek Rajabov. It was another Asian Games medal for Saclag, who also won silver in wushu sanda at the 2014 Asian Games.

Kacey Dela Rosa, Ammyah Espanol, Kennan Ka and Maria Pasilang — Women’s 3x3 basketball

Gilas Pilipinas Women fought Japan for gold but settled for silver after a 21-11 defeat in the final. Dela Rosa led the Philippines with six points, while Espanol and Kennan Ka added three and two points, respectively.

Nelly Jay Salon, Jean Marie Sucalit and Abegail Sinogbuhan — Women’s doubles, sepak takraw

The women’s doubles team made history by winning the Philippines’ first Asian Games silver in the event. The Filipinas fell to Vietnam in the final but had already secured a medal after reaching the championship match.

Bronze

Princess Catindig, Bien Zoleta, Christy Sañosa, Shyryn Salazar and Hilary Paas — Women’s team, soft tennis

The Philippine women’s soft tennis team delivered the country’s first medal in Aichi-Nagoya. The Filipinas secured bronze after losing to defending champions Japan in the semifinals, giving Philippine soft tennis its first Asian Games podium finish since 1994.

Carlos Alvarez — Men’s traditional -77kg, MMA

Alvarez became one of the Philippines’ first Asian Games medalists in MMA, which made its debut at the continental Games. The Team Lakay fighter secured bronze in the -77kg division after reaching the semifinals and losing to Kazakhstan’s Yerkingali Burkutalin.

Samantha Veguillas, Ysabielle Arrogante and Rebecca Torres — Women’s team kata, karate

The Philippine women’s kata trio captured bronze after defeating Thailand, 4-1, in the medal bout. The team had beaten Cambodia in the quarterfinals before falling to Iran in the semifinals and regrouping for the podium finish.

Marie June Adriano — Women’s individual kumite -50kg, karate

Adriano added another karate medal for the Philippines, beating Chinese Taipei’s Ya-chi Chung, 10-3, in the bronze-medal bout. The 22-year-old had reached the semifinals before the victory, earning her first Asian Games medal on her debut.

Karl Eldrew Yulo — Men’s horizontal bar, artistic gymnastics

Carlos Yulo’s younger brother, Karl Eldrew, joined him on the podium by taking bronze in the horizontal bar. He scored 13.666 in the final, giving the Philippines another gymnastics medal.

Albert Ian Delos Santos — Men’s 70kg, weightlifting

Delos Santos gave the Philippines a bronze in weightlifting, adding another medal to the country’s early haul in Nagoya.

SIBOL — Pokémon UNITE, esports

SIBOL made history with bronze in Pokémon UNITE, giving the Philippines its first esports medal at the Asian Games. The team secured the podium finish after falling to Indonesia in the semifinals.

John Cabang Tolentino — Men’s 110m hurdles, athletics

Cabang Tolentino clocked a season-best 13.48 seconds to win bronze in the men’s 110m hurdles. The Paris Olympian finished behind China’s Chen Yuanjiang and Japan’s Rachid Muratake.

SIBOL — Honor of Kings, esports

SIBOL added another esports bronze through its Honor of Kings squad. The team reached the semifinals before losing to China, securing its second medal of the Games. The roster includes Golden Dajao, Dragon Dajao, Justine Tan, Charles Esguerra and Chammy Nazarrea.

Philippine men’s regu team — Sepak takraw

Jason Huerte, Jom Lerry Rafael, Reynaldo Asilum Jr, Glindel Phori and Ronsited Gabayeron took bronze in the men’s regu event. The Filipinos fell to Malaysia in the semifinals but matched their bronze-medal finish from the previous Asian Games.

Victoria Bossong — Women’s 800m, athletics

Bossong clocked 2:05.34 to finish third in the women’s 800m and claim bronze in her Asian Games debut. The Fil-Am runner finished behind China’s Wu Hongjiao and Bahrain’s Nelly Korir.

Jayuard Alciso — Men’s shortboard, surfing

Alciso won bronze in an all-Filipino showdown with fellow surfer Toby Espejon, scoring 11.64 to Espejon’s 8.90. The result gave the Philippines its first Asian Games surfing medal.

A medal is already secured

Carlo Paalam — Men’s 55kg, boxing

Paalam has already guaranteed himself a medal after reaching the semifinals of the men’s 55kg division. The Olympic silver medallist defeated China’s Jiamao Zhang by split decision in the quarterfinals and will face Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan next. His semifinal is scheduled for September 30, so his final medal colour is still to be decided.

The Asian Games continue through October 4, with Filipino athletes still competing across several sports. This list will be updated as Team Philippines adds to its medal tally.
