Competitors and spectators alike enjoyed thrilling matches at The Security Bank Polo Cup 2025
The “game of kings”, as polo is often called, has its roots in Iran, whose royalty employed it as a cavalry exercise. As the sport spread worldwide, it became the favoured pastime of the discerning, befitting the grace, technique and tactics involved in its play. Security Bank, recognised for the fifth year in a row by Euromoney as the best bank for high-net-worth clients, hosted a friendly invitational on the fields of the Manila Polo Club ahead of its 74th anniversary in June.
Held in March, the Security Bank Polo Cup featured two games, the first being a 4-chukker low-goal game to highlight both up-and-coming players and veterans of the sport. The second was a 4-chukker high-goal game for seasoned players, with both matches showcasing the pinnacle of skill, teamwork and horsemanship on the field. “We’re always looking for ways to build connections with our clients, whether in how we serve them or the experiences we create for them. This event reflects that,” Security Bank President and CEO Sanjiv Vohra said.

In the end, two teams emerged victorious in their respective matches: the low-goal game’s blue team, led by Xavi Tengco, and the high-goal game’s white team, captained by Pedro Roxas. Vohra and Manila Polo Club President Alex Revilla led the awarding ceremony. Recognisable faces were also in attendance, such as US Ambassador Mary Kay Carlson, Indian Ambassador Shri Harsh Kumar Jain, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. “[The year] 2024 has been a banner year for Security Bank, and we’re only getting better,” Vohra remarked. “These achievements and your support drive us to uphold our BetterBanking promise, putting our customers at the heart of everything we do.”
