The Queen is experiencing mild symptoms and will likely carry out light duties this week as she recovers

England’s Queen Elizabeth II tested positive for Covid-19 on February 20, said Buckingham Palace in an announcement.

The palace said in a statement: “Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week.”

“She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all appropriate guidelines.”

The Queen is fully vaccinated but her health has been of concern as of late after the world’s longest-reigning monarch spent a night in the hospital in October last year. It was not revealed why she was hospitalised.

Besides the Queen, other members of the Royal family have not been spared from the virus which has been ravaging the world for over two years now. Here are the other royal family members who contracted Covid-19 since its outbreak.

1. Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, tested positive for Covid-19 in April 2020, according to palace sources.

The Prince initially kept his diagnosis private to avoid alarming Britain. He was treated by palace doctors and isolated at his family home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

Despite his diagnosis, Prince William continued to carry out 14 video and telephone engagements in the month of April, according to BBC.

2. Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales

The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, has tested positive for Covid-19 twice now since the pandemic began despite being fully vaccinated and boosted.

He first tested positive for the virus in March 2020 and suffered only mild symptoms. He spent seven days in self-isolation at his home in Scotland before resuming his official duties.

On February 10 this year, it was announced by his office, Clarence House, that he had tested positive a second time.

“This morning the Prince of Wales has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating,” it said in a statement on Twitter.

Prince Charles has since resumed his royal duties.

3. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

A few days after her husband, Prince Charles, contracted Covid-19 for the second time, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also tested positive on February 14 this year for the first time.

She had carried out three public engagements after her husband tested positive since she herself was testing negative. Unfortunately, she tested positive shortly after and went into self-isolation.

4. Sir Timothy Laurence

Sir Timothy Laurence is the husband of Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s only daughter. He contracted Covid-19 in December 2021 and isolated himself according to government regulations at the country estate he shares with his wife in Gloucestershire’s Gatcombe Park.

Princess Anne also remained in isolation during this period and the couple spent Christmas apart from the Queen that year as a precaution.
