The local floral design studio has been making an impression at events and special occasions for more than 25 years
There is a reason why sakura season in Japan is an occasion for locals and tourists alike; why the receiver of a bouquet almost always takes a photo for social media. Flowers in full bloom never fail to make an impression, one that lasts long after their short-lived beauty has faded.
Leading local floral design studio Fiore Dorato is an expert in creating such lasting impressions. From lavish weddings to large-scale corporate functions and destination-based installations, the studio has been transforming event spaces locally and internationally since 1996. Founder Brenda Lee firmly believes that flowers are not mere accessories to the décor, but integral to the creation of a visual and experiential concept.

Lee cites a local wedding at The Ritz-Carlton hotel as one of the most memorable events her team has worked on. “The client requested a “winter wonderland” concept and had a vision of replicating the white and calm of a winter’s day at her wedding,” she recalls.
To achieve the desired effect, Lee and her team transformed the hotel’s ballroom into a sea of white with matthiolas, eustomas, astrantias, roses, hydrangeas, and peonies. The flowers were draped from the ceiling, strewn on the runway that led to the stage, and mounted on the walls. Candles in glass houses along the runway added a warm, romantic glow to the spectacle.

When it comes to choosing the right floral design for a personal event, Lee advises that figuring out what is most important would help make planning the budget easier. “For example, if guest experience and interaction is a priority, I would suggest not opting out of a statement floral installation piece or a photo wall.” The main elements of the design that embody the event’s theme should also be prioritised. “Secondary elements are where compromises can be made or creative solutions found to keep to the budget.”

Above Roses remain a popular choice for bouquets
Major milestone events are not the only occasions Fiore Dorato lends its flair to. Smaller, but no less significant occasions, such as Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day are also peak periods for the studio.
Lee says that while traditional options, such as carnations for Mother’s Day and red roses for Valentine’s Day remain favourites, she has observed trends moving away the familiar towards more exotic choices, such as peonies for the former occasion, and parrot and fringed tulips for the latter. But pushing the boundaries of tradition isn’t always about the choice of flowers; the presentation can make a difference, too. Lee shares an example: “Long-stemmed roses presented in a customised box set complete with aromatic scents have become a popular choice for Valentine’s Day.”

Beyond bouquets, Fiore Dorato’s floral bar workshop and Flower School offer more immersive ways to experience floral design. Mothers and daughters have spent afternoons together creating personalised flower arrangements–and precious memories–at the floral bar workshop. The Flower School is for those looking for a more intensive course. “It covers the fundamentals of high-end floral design and includes hands-on experience at event set-ups and wedding installations,” Lee reveals.

Fiore Dorato’s installations may have reached the world stage, but the studio remains rooted locally and is thriving in the increasingly sophisticated social scene here. “Singapore is a hub for the discerning and wealthy–clients who are well-travelled and have world-class standards and expectations for their events and weddings,” Lee says.
“Fiore Dorato hopes to be the purveyor and provider of floral design at its best, in keeping with global trends, to the delight of our treasured clients.”
