Hours after the trailer leaked, Marvel drops the official version

Because you demanded it, so here it is. The trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially dropped, hours after it was leaked on social media. This time around, however, it's through no fault of lead star Tom Holland who famously blabbed about Spider-Man: Far From Home title in 2018 before it became officially known. In response to the leaked footage, Holland went on his IG story to post these words, "You ain't ready!"

Well, turns out we're more than ready, and the new trailer is a mind-blowing revelation that whets our appetite for Marvel's multiverse arc that will also involve Wanda a.k.a. Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

There's a lot to unpack in the trailer, which runs for more than three minutes. First, Peter Parker/Spider-Man seeks Doctor Strange's help to erase the world's knowledge about his identity as the web crawler, the latter then casting a spell that apparently triggers the multiverse.

Second, it clearly shows the return of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 starring Tobey Maguire as the titular hero. This increases the likelihood that we will be seeing more characters from the previous Spider-Man franchises, including Maguire and Andrew Garfield themselves returning to don the Spidey suits. (Incidentally, Raimi is directing the Doctor Strange sequel.)

And third, Parker can now automatically change from his civilian suit into his Spider-Man costume, yet another cool upgrade for our young hero.

Spider-Man: No Way Home also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei and Jon Favreau, and is directed by Jon Watts, who also helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. It hits theatres on December 17, 2021.
