The book, which will shed light on the British royal’s life at Buckingham Palace, will arrive in January 2023
Prince Harry is officially releasing a memoir and, considering that Penguin Random House has already described it as “raw” and “unflinching”, it’s safe to say that we are at the edge of our seats for this royal read.

The book, which was announced last year, is titled Spare. It will tell Prince Harry’s story with “insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief,” according to Penguin Random House.
In a statement that was released this week, the publishing house also indicated that readers would be getting an insightful look into the death of Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, and how it influenced his life.
“As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on,” the statement read. “For Harry, this is his story at last.”
The book is also expected to cover Prince Harry’s military days, which took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan twice, as well as the joys he has discovered in becoming a husband and father in recent years.
For now, followers of the British royal family are already taking apart the memoir’s title. It's believed a reference to the phrase, “the heir and the spare,” which is typically used to describe royal siblings.
Prince Harry’s difficult relationship with his older brother, Prince William, has been publicly aired over the last few years. Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and made the decision to move to the United States. The couple have since spoken out about how they were cut off financially and shared details about the alleged racism and xenophobia they experienced while being part of the British royal family.

“I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man, I have become,” Prince Harry said in a statement. “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.”
The book will be quite a read, boasting 416 pages. It will be published in 16 different languages, and Prince Harry will also be narrating the audiobook version himself. While financial terms were not discussed, we do know that the Prince will also be donating proceeds from the book to British charities.
