Netflix’s annual livestream Tudum: A Global Fan Event showcase has officially wrapped, bringing with it some new looks at several highly anticipated shows and movies, and more.
It opened with Chris Hemsworth announcing Extraction 3 and ended with a trailer for Gal Gadot's Heart of Stone, but there was plenty in between all that. From the first look at the 3 Body Problem from the Game of Thrones showrunners to new glimpses at the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender remake, see what's our favourite picks of was announced.
1. Squid Game 2 cast announcement
Above New cast members Yim Si-Wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-Hoon, and Yang Dong-Geun joins Squid Game 2
The popular Korean drama is set to return in the near future for a second running, and will feature some old and new faces. Along with the previously announced returning cast of Lee Jung-jae (Gi-Hun), Gong Yoo (Recruiter) and Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), we'll also be seeing brand new faces Yim Si-wan, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Sung-hoon joining the fold.
The show swept the world in 2021 with millions of viewers binging on it, catapulting Squid Game to became the most-watched show in Netflix’s history. While Squid Game 2 doesn’t have an official release date yet, it is slated to start filming in July 2023 so you can expect it to land late next year.
2. 'Extraction 3' announced

Billing off the successful premiere of Extraction 2, Chris Hemsworth announced during the showcase that a third film has been greenlit by Netflix and the action star is set to reprise his role as black ops mercenary Tyler Rake.
Extraction made its debut on Netflix in 2020 with Chris Hemsworth suiting up as the former Australian SAS operator for a deadly mission to save an Indian crime lord’s kidnapped son. The movie became Netflix’s biggest opening with a staggering 99 million views over the film’s first four weeks. Extraction 2 was released on June 16 and once again saw Hemsworth return as Rake to save his ex-wife's sister Ketevan and her children. There's no official release date for Extraction 3 yet.
3. 'You' gets final season

You star Penn Badgley appeared via a short video to tease the fifth and final season of the hit psychological thriller series though he leaves things rather ambiguous. What's certain is that the show could go full circle and bring Joe Goldberg, the charming yet disturbed main character played by Badgley back to New York City. The teaser also showed Jenna Ortega's Ellie Alves from season two having some unfinished business with Goldberg. There's no official release date for You season 5 yet.

4. First look at 'Bridgerton' season 3

The popular historical fiction-romance series Bridgerton revealed the first images of its third season and it looks like we'll be jumping from the enemies turned to lovers storyline in season 2 to a friends-to-lovers romance this round. At the centre of the ballroom will be wallflower Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan and her longtime crush, world traveler Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton. As Penelope also happens to be Lady Whistledown, that romance is likely to get messy.
5. 'Emily in Paris' (Rome?)
Above It looks like Emily in Paris season 4 will take fans—and Emily—on a Roman escapade.
Get ready to say au revoir Paris as Emily in Paris star Lily Collins revealed that season 4 will see the titular star heading to Rome for a holiday. While filming on the fourth instalment of the hit show has been delayed due to the ongoing writers' strike, Collins insists that it will be worth the wait as she promises “unexpected twists” in the new season.
Season 3 finished on a cliff-hanger, with fans left desperate to know if Emily would finally decide to pursue a relationship with Gabriel, played Lucas Bravo. Collins promised there would be “answers” for all the questions left unresolved in the previous series. No confirmed date of release has been announced by Netflix yet.

6. A thrilling new mystery: '3 Body Problem'

3 Body Problem is a new blockbuster series based on the bestselling and critically acclaimed novels by Chinese author Liu Cixin. Helming the series will be Game of Thrones creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo of True Blood. This upcoming series explores humanity’s response to a grave threat.
The teaser for the show reveals a complex story with several ramifications that extend through space and time with the story kicking off in ’60s China when a woman’s decision impacts the lives of several scientists in the present. 3 Body Problem will debut on Netflix in January 2024.
7. Gal Gadot debuts spy thriller 'Heart of Stone'

Netflix also released the first trailer for Heart of Stone, a new spy thriller starring Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot and The Tourist's Jamie Dornan (you might also know him from Fifty Shades of Grey). Gadot portrays intelligence agent Rachel Stone, alongside lead MI6 agent Parker (played by Dornan). The teaser trailer sees Gadot's character make quick work of shady male figures, displaying some of her infamous fighting skills that impressed audiences in Wonder Woman. Heart of Stone arrives on Netflix at August 11.
8. First look at 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' live action remake

Netflix also gave viewers the first glimpse of its live-action remake of the popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Going by the same name, the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender series will star Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu in character as Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Prince Zuko, respectively.
The animated series was a ratings success and received widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike for its characters, cultural references, art direction, humour, and themes. The remake hit a roadbump when original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko parted ways with the Netflix production in 2020 but according to the showcase, it is set to make it to streaming in 2024.
