Who is joining the Bennet household? Meet the Netflix’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ cast

Jack Lowden plays Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy, a wealthy landowner whose reserved manner and apparent arrogance make a poor first impression on Elizabeth. Despite his social status and considerable fortune, Darcy struggles to express his feelings, particularly when Elizabeth challenges his assumptions about her family and social position. His relationship with Elizabeth forms the central romance of Pride and Prejudice, with both characters having to confront their own misconceptions. Lowden is known for Slow Horses and Dunkirk.

Olivia Colman plays Mrs Bennet, the mother of Elizabeth, Jane, Mary, Kitty and Lydia. Preoccupied with finding suitable husbands for her daughters, Mrs. Bennet sees marriage as a matter of both security and social advancement, particularly because the Bennet estate is entailed away from the female members of the family. Her enthusiasm for matchmaking frequently embarrasses Elizabeth but also reflects the limited options available to women of the period. Colman brings extensive screen experience from projects including The Favourite and Broadchurch.

Rufus Sewell plays Mr Bennet, the dryly humorous but often detached father of the five Bennet sisters. While he enjoys Elizabeth’s intelligence and shares her wit, his tendency to retreat into his library leaves much of the family’s practical and emotional management to Mrs. Bennet. His lack of involvement becomes increasingly significant as the sisters navigate courtship, marriage and the consequences of their choices. Sewell’s recent credits include The Diplomat and Scoop.

Freya Mavor portrays Jane Bennet, the eldest Bennet sister and the beauty of the family. Gentle, kind-hearted and inclined to see the best in everyone, Jane develops a strong attachment to Mr. Bingley. Her quieter temperament contrasts with Elizabeth’s more outspoken personality, although the sisters share a close bond throughout the story. Mavor’s previous credits include Industry and Skins.

Daryl McCormack plays Charles Bingley, a wealthy young gentleman whose arrival in Hertfordshire immediately attracts the attention of the Bennet family. Friendly, sociable and considerably more open than his friend Darcy, Bingley quickly becomes interested in Jane. His romance with her provides a softer counterpart to Elizabeth and Darcy’s more complicated relationship. McCormack’s previous work includes Good Luck to You, Leo Grande and Peaky Blinders.

Louis Partridge portrays George Wickham, a charming militia officer who quickly wins Elizabeth’s sympathy. His apparent warmth and easy manner offer a striking contrast to Darcy’s reserve, and Elizabeth initially finds Wickham’s account of his history with Darcy convincing. His arrival adds another layer of tension to the romantic and social world surrounding the Bennet sisters. Partridge is recognised for roles in Enola Holmes and House of Guinness.

Jamie Demetriou plays Mr William Collins, the pompous clergyman who is distantly related to the Bennet family. Because the Bennet estate is entailed to him, Collins stands to inherit Longbourn after Mr Bennet’s death. His attempts to secure a wife and his exaggerated admiration for his patron, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, make him one of Austen’s most memorable comic characters. Demetriou is known for writing and starring in Stath Lets Flats and appearing in Fleabag.

Fiona Shaw plays Lady Catherine de Bourgh, a wealthy and formidable aristocrat whose forceful personality makes her one of the most intimidating figures in Elizabeth’s world. She is accustomed to having her opinions heard and takes a particular interest in the romantic prospects of those around her, including her nephew Darcy. Her rigid views on social class and marriage put her at odds with Elizabeth’s independent nature. Shaw’s screen credits include Killing Eve, Andor and the Harry Potter film franchise.

Rhea Norwood plays Lydia Bennet, while Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery portray Mary and Kitty Bennet. The three younger sisters have very different personalities and occupy an important place in the Bennet family dynamic. Lydia, the youngest, is impulsive, flirtatious and fascinated by the officers stationed nearby. Mary is serious and eager to demonstrate her learning, while Kitty tends to follow Lydia’s lead. Norwood previously appeared in Heartstopper, while Parish and Avery make their screen debuts in this adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
