Are you ready for a second or third (or more) helping of your favourite film characters?

It looks like a year of blockbuster sequels in 2023. Marvel will have three major releases: the first sequel to Captain Marvel as well as the third sequels to Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. After some behind-the-scenes drama, DC will finally release the follow-ups to Shazam and Aquaman. Indiana Jones will be cracking his whip for the fifth time. Keanu Reeves plays John Wick in the franchise's fourth instalment.

This list is by no means exhaustive but these are the nine sequels that we can't wait to watch in 2023.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) returns to the Quantum Realm and faces off Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), who was first introduced in the Loki series and will serve as the main antagonist in Marvel's multiverse saga.

The Marvels

The end credit scene of Disney+'s Ms Marvel in which Brie Larson's Captain Marvel made a cameo, sets up The Marvels. The movie will team up Captain Marvel with Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The Guardians go on another dangerous mission to protect one of their own. The big question is: Will Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) reunite with Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who was killed in Infinity War but returned as her younger self in Endgame, having no recollection of her relationship with Quill?

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One

Not much is known about the plot of the seventh Tom Cruise-as-super-spy-Ethan-Hunt movie but it is already famous for featuring what has been hailed as the most dangerous stunt in cinema history that sees Cruise flying off a cliff on a motorcycle. If past instalments are anything to go by—remember the time Hunt hung on to the side of a plane that was taking off?—it will be pretty darn spectacular.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

The surprise fifth Indiana Jones movie will be Harrison Ford's last. This time, our favourite swashbuckling archeologist is on a mission to uncover if the US is recruiting former Nazis to beat the Soviet Union in the race to go to space.

John Wick: Chapter 4

Donnie Yen joins the cast as an old friend of John Wick (Keanu Reeves).

Dune: Part Two

Tatler Asia
Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet
Above Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet

Will Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), who witnessed his family get destroyed in the first movie, get his revenge?

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Shazam (Zachary Levi) fights demi-gods Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu) in this long-awaited sequel.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Scheduled for release on Christmas Day 2023, Jason Momoa's Aquaman forges an uneasy alliance with brother King Orm (Patrick Wilson) to defend Atlantis from Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).
