Rumours started swirling after Harry and Meghan hired Miranda Barbot, former president Barack Obama's PR wonderwoman

After months of staying away from the limelight, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have finally returned to the public eye for the Invictus Games to support recovering wounded servicemen and women through sports. And it looks like they may have plans to continue making headlines.

The couple most recently employed Miranda Barbot, the public relations (PR) superstar of former president Barack Obama, who was integral in helping him get re-elected for a second term. Barbot will join Archewell, the Sussexes’ impact-driven non-profit organisation.

Barbot was reportedly brought on to “overhaul their image”, according to a source that spoke to British publication The Mirror. “There are shades of the Clintons or even Kennedys,” the source continued.

“It wouldn’t be a huge shock now if Meghan went into politics,” it said.

True enough, predictions that the Duchess may have plans to enter politics have been around for quite a while now. Last year, Markle launched a campaign that lobbied for compulsory paid leave in the United States (US) by writing to senators and leaders to ask for their support.

She also encouraged people to vote in the 2020 US elections under a campaign that was led by former First Lady Michelle Obama.

As an avid activist for most of her life, Markle participated in various campaigns in the past such as when she wrote to Procter & Gamble about a sexist advertising campaign when she was a child and when she joined protests against the Gulf War at the age of 10.

Markle has continued to be outspoken about her support for the feminist movement and was even named a United Nations Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership in 2015.

With Barbot on her team, it looks like Markle may continue to throw her influence behind some of the causes she is most passionate about—perhaps even political ones.

For now, we will just get our headphones ready for the launch of Markle’s Archewell Audio podcast series, Archetypes, which will be launching this year.
