ADOR, an independent label powered by HYBE just unveiled its first ever act: Newjeans. The five-member girl group which is composed of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein, easily took the internet by storm immediately after they released their debut single "Attention" on July 22, 2022.
The group's name, "NewJeans", is a double entendre. It alludes to the timelessness of a pair of jeans, which the group seeks to manifest for themselves in the coming days. The band name is also a word play on the phrase "new genes," which refers to a new generation of Korean pop.
"Pop music is a culture that is very close to our daily live, so it is like the clothes we wear everyday," said ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin in and interview with Bandwagon. "Just as jeans withstood the test of time and found popularity among many regardless of their age and gender, NewJeans aspires to become an icon of generations; one you never grow tired of putting on."
