Live Nation is set to open Tides, a 1,500-capacity live music venue in Kowloon, offering a much-needed mid-sized space for Hong Kong’s performance scene.
Live Nation announced today that it will soon open Tides, a new mid-size live music venue with a standing capacity of 1,500 that occupies the first and upper-first floors of the ship-shaped Whampoa complex in Kowloon. The space was converted from part of Whampoa’s shopping mall.
Built for modern touring, Tides is the only venue of its kind in the city with fully integrated production facilities and touring-grade infrastructure. The place takes its name from the area’s maritime heritage and was designed in-house by Live Nation.

“Tides gives international and local promoters and artists a much-needed alternative,” says Stephanie Bax, president of venue development Asia at Live Nation, in a press release. Before this new venue, the city only had small clubs for music performances or the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium—there were few mid-sized options in between.
“The design prioritises efficient setup, making it easy for acts to include Hong Kong in their tour plans,” Bax says. “With integrated production and a layout built for audience connection, the venue offers both international and local artists a professional platform to grow their fan base.”

Filling a clear gap in the market, Tides comes with built-in sound, lighting and flexible staging for plug-and-play operation. It also features artist support areas and a lounge with F&B service for pre- and post-show gatherings.

With its rapid event turnaround, Tides is expected to host up to 250 events annually, spanning concerts, brand activations, corporate functions and mid-scale productions. The venue offers a versatile platform for organisers and sponsors to connect with audiences year-round.
The project, initiated and funded by Live Nation with support from the government, reflects the music company’s global commitment to live experiences and creates new opportunities for collaboration within Hong Kong’s vibrant cultural scene.
