Keep your watchlist ready for these K-dramas, from star-led romances to gripping thrillers arriving this quarter

The final quarter of 2026 is bringing a particularly varied selection of K-dramas to international streaming platforms. October starts strongly with Kim So-hyun and Choo Young-woo’s romance Between Steps, followed by Kim Ji-won’s return to television in the medical thriller Doctor X: Mafia in White. There is also the unusual romantic comedy Take Charge of My Heart, Kim Yoo-jung’s period espionage drama 100 Days of Deception and the psychological thriller The Perfect Lie starring Seo Hyun-jin and Yoo Yeon-seok.

November shifts towards fantasy romance and workplace stories, led by the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Remarried Empress. December then rounds out the year with historical action, sports drama and Netflix’s ambitious period series Tantara, starring Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo and Kim Seol-hyun. Here are the K-dramas to have on your watchlist as 2026 draws to a close.

1. ‘Between Steps’ (October 5, Disney+)

Choo Young-woo plays Park Min-jae, a former competitive swimmer who lost a leg to illness and is now pursuing a PhD in robotics. His carefully controlled life changes when Im Yoo-jin, played by Kim So-hyun, enters the university robotics lab. Yoo-jin has abandoned her original path in fashion and is trying to find a new direction, while Min-jae has become guarded about both his future and the possibility of falling in love. Their relationship develops as Yoo-jin discovers a new interest in robotics and Min-jae gradually allows himself to become closer to her.

2. ‘Doctor X: Mafia in White’ (October 9, Netflix)

takes on the role of Gye Su-jeong, a brilliant surgeon whose exceptional skills come with an uncompromising attitude. After being placed at Guseo University Hospital, she quickly finds herself challenging a medical establishment dominated by hierarchy, ego and corruption. Lee Jung-eun plays Jang Hee-sook, who helps place Su-jeong at the hospital, while Son Hyun-joo plays hospital director Bu Seung-gwon and Kim Woo-seok plays intern Park Tae-gyeong. The Korean adaptation of the Japanese Doctor-X franchise turns the operating room into the setting for a battle against the hospital’s entrenched power structure.

3. ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ (October 9, Netflix)

Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin lead one of the more unusual romances of the quarter. Baek Ho-rang is a chaebol heir whose artificial heart is running out of power, while Na Bo-bae has a strange ability she developed after being struck by lightning as a child: she can generate electricity through her body. When Ho-rang discovers that her electricity can recharge his artificial heart, the pair strike a three-month deal. He needs her help to keep his heart running while he prepares for another surgery and she needs inspiration for the romance screenplay she is struggling to finish. Their arrangement soon becomes considerably more complicated as the two start developing feelings for each other.

4. ‘100 Days of Deception’ (October 10, Netflix)

Set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, 100 Days of Deception follows Ga Kyung, played by Kim Yoo-jung, a gifted pickpocket who becomes involved with the independence movement. She infiltrates the Japanese colonial government as a spy with the aim of gathering information, but her mission becomes more complicated when she falls for the son of her target. Park Jin-young stars alongside Kim Yoo-jung, with Kim Hyun-joo, Lee Moo-saeng and Jin Sun-kyu also part of the cast. The combination of period drama, political intrigue, espionage and romance gives the series plenty of room for both action and emotional stakes.

5. ‘Love in Disguise’ (October 19, Prime Video)

Yim Si-wan plays Yoon Yi-jun, the privileged heir to the Taegang Group who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case. Seol In-ah plays Kang Jae-hee, a former special forces officer who goes undercover as his personal secretary while investigating him. The closer she gets to Yi-jun, however, the harder it becomes to separate her undercover assignment from the increasingly complicated relationship between them. Kim Jung-hyun and Yeonwoo round out the main cast in this romance thriller, which combines a murder investigation with an undercover identity and a potentially dangerous workplace romance.

6. ‘The Perfect Lie’ (October 30, MBC)

Seo Hyun-jin stars as Kang Ji-sun, an elementary school librarian whose quiet life begins to unravel after she meets cardiac surgeon Min Joon-ho, played by Yoo Yeon-seok. The two have completely different accounts of a crucial memory, with each insisting that their version is the truth. As their conflicting recollections become the centre of the mystery, the drama turns their search for answers into a psychological battle over what really happened.

7. ‘The Remarried Empress’ (November 4, Disney+)

Shin Min-a stars as Navier, the intelligent and composed Empress of the Eastern Empire whose carefully managed life is thrown into chaos when her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, brings Rashta, a runaway slave, into the palace and takes her as his mistress. When Sovieshu eventually demands a divorce, Navier agrees on one condition: she wants permission to marry Prince Heinrey of the rival Western Kingdom, played by Lee Jong-suk. Ju Ji-hoon plays Sovieshu while Lee Se-young plays Rashta in Disney+’s live-action adaptation of the popular web novel.

8. ‘Nine to Six’ (November, SBS)

Her carefully ordered life changes when she meets Han Seon-woo, played by Yook Sung-jae, a warm and capable intern whose kindness and sincerity quickly earn the trust of his colleagues. Go Soo plays Park Hyun-tae, a newly assigned division head who evaluates Yi-ji purely on her abilities. Based on the Chinese drama The Rational Life, the office romance follows the three characters as professional relationships develop into a complicated love triangle.

9. ‘Good Partner 2’ (November 20, Viu)

Jang Na-ra returns as divorce attorney Cha Eun-kyung, now the lead attorney at Korea’s first divorce law firm. The second season brings a new partnership into the firm, with Kim Hye-yoon joining as a divorce lawyer and Park Hae-jin taking on a new lead role. P.O also returns as Jeon Eun-ho. The series continues the courtroom and workplace drama of the first season, with Cha Eun-kyung facing new professional challenges as she handles complicated divorce cases and works alongside a new generation of colleagues.

10. ‘The Blue Road’ (November 20, Netflix)

Adapted from the 2002 Keishi Edogawa and Kwon Kaya manhwa, this cross-border original series follows an alliance between a Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency investigator and a Tokyo First Investigation Division detective. The narrative unfolds as the duo tracks a serial killer carrying out a campaign of grisly murders across South Korea and Japan, marked by cryptic messages written in opposing national languages at each crime scene. Directed by Han Jun-hee (D.P.), the eight-part series explores jurisdictional friction, corporate espionage and Zainichi political networks tied to the killings.

11. ‘Gift’ (December 5, TVING)

Kim Woo-bin plays Jung Min-yong, a former professional baseball coach whose life changes after an unexpected accident gives him an unusual ability: he can recognise a player's baseball talent simply by looking at them. Seo Eun-soo plays physical education teacher Yoon Seo-jin, who also heads the school's baseball team, while Seo Hyun-woo is part of the supporting cast. The drama combines sports, fantasy and the pressure of turning a group of underdogs into a competitive team.

12. ‘Sacred Jewel’ (December 5, Prime Video)

Set in 1258 during the Goryeo Dynasty, Sacred Jewel unfolds against the backdrop of a 30-year war with the Mongol Empire. A convoy is assembled to retrieve the Avalokitesvara Bead, a sacred relic believed to possess the power to protect the kingdom. Ahn Bo-hyun plays Baek Gyeol, a young commander appointed to lead the expedition, while Lee Sung-min plays veteran warrior Choi Gu. Ha Yoon-kyung joins the journey as Geol-seung, a guide who becomes part of the expedition, while Claudia Kim plays Princess Wang-hi, whose relationship with Baek Gyeol adds a romantic thread to the historical action story.

13. ‘Your Ground’ (Late 2026, MBC)

Han Hyo-joo and Gong Myung lead this youth romance set in the world of professional baseball, with a storyline reminiscent of Jerry Maguire. Gong Myung plays Kang Hae-hwan, a former star pitcher whose career is derailed by a shocking setback. Han Hyo-joo plays Seo Hee-seung, a talented lawyer who is sent to a sports agency and becomes his agent. When the pair reunite 11 years after their first love, they find themselves navigating romance, competition and Hae-hwan's attempt to return to the mound. Kim Shin-rok and Sung Joon also star as the head of the sports agency and Hae-hwan's rival respectively.

14. ‘Tantara’ (December 11, Netflix)

Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo and Kim Seol-hyun headline Tantara, a period drama that follows the growth of Korea’s entertainment industry during a turbulent era. Set against the backdrop of Korea's show-business world, the story follows people who dream of making it on stage despite the social and political pressures surrounding them. Song Hye-kyo plays Min-ja, with Gong Yoo as Dong-goo and Kim Seol-hyun as Min-hui. Cha Seung-won and Lee Hanee also feature in the ensemble cast. With its historical setting and focus on the people building careers in the entertainment industry, Tantara is one of Netflix’s more ambitious Korean dramas for the end of 2026.
