Study Group is a K-drama adaptation of a popular manhwa, following one student's relentless pursuit of academic success—by starting a study group. Hardworking and meticulous, protagonist Yoon Ga Min (played by K-pop idol and actor Minhyun) puts in more effort than most, yet his dedication has yielded little progress. Hoping to turn things around, he transfers to Yusung Technical High School, only to discover that it’s a breeding ground for delinquents and troublemakers.
Fortunately, Ga Min is more than capable of handling the chaos at his new school. His unwavering commitment to studying, his determination to assemble the right group, and—crucially—his formidable martial arts skills make for an unstoppable combination.

Ga Min’s goal
Academically speaking, Ga Min is an underdog among underdogs. But despite his lack of academic success, there is something undeniably endearing about him. His sweetness, naivety and genuine, unwavering desire to succeed make him incredibly relatable and impossible not to root for.
But Ga Min may yet reach his academic goals. Thanks to the study group, his midterms reveal that he climbed up 10 places from 219 out of 220 to 209, so there’s hope yet.
As for his fighting career, he may not believe his skills are anything special, but fans of the K-drama are more than ready to see him in action again, putting away bullies and bad guys like the boss that he is.

They never show the face of Yoon Ga Min’s uncle-slash-trainer in the drama but there are clues that point to his identity. Thanks to his iconic blue tracksuit, manhwa fans believe that he is Yeongha Jeon, the protagonist of a webtoon called Hanlin Gym.
He may be a faceless character in Study Group but his influence in Ga Min’s life is so undeniable that a number of Ga Min’s deadly moves are called “Uncle’s Forbidden Techniques.”

Towards the end of the K-drama, we get a brief moment where the Lee twins, Ji Woo (Shin Soo-hyun) and Hyeon U (Park Yoon-ho), finally reunite. However, the reunion is short and quick, leaving fans wanting more. Their dynamic has so much potential and the chemistry of the actors who play them are so on point, it would be a shame not to explore it further.

Wan Hul (Weak Hero Class 1’s Cha Woo-min) is Study Group’s resident villain and the undisputed top dog at Yusung Technical High School. As the son of Pi Yeonbaek (Lee Jong-hyuk), leader of the ruthless Yeonbaek gang, he has a reputation to uphold—though his father’s cold-blooded nature makes even Wan Hul seem restrained by comparison.
In the manhwa, Wan Hul has a baby sister, revealing a softer, more caring side to his character. Exploring his family background further—especially with his father as a potential main antagonist in Season 2—would add depth to his story. Introducing his younger sister in the next season could also open up intriguing new plot developments.
Park Geonyeob’s internship
At the end of Study Group, the mysterious Park Geonyeob (Love Your Enemy’s breakout star Hong Min-gi) receives a text message from YB Capital (Pi Yeonbaek’s company) telling him he has been accepted to their internship program.
He may have helped Ga Min and the study group on numerous occasions but his lust for revenge could lead him down a much darker path. His story arc feels incomplete, making it all the more intriguing to see where his journey takes him in season two.

The resignation letter
In the post-credit scene, we see someone leave a resignation letter on teacher Lee Han Kyeong’s (Han Ji-eun) desk, along with several farewell messages. Could our intrepid and kindhearted teacher and study group adviser be leaving Yusung Technical High School? Say it isn’t so.
So far, there has been no official announcement regarding a second season. But with plenty of loose ends left unresolved at the end of the K-drama, and with the manhwa already on its third installment, there’s plenty of material to cover. Even more importantly, there are legions of fans eagerly awaiting a season 2.
