Meet Jisoo’s boyfriends in the latest Netflix K-drama ‘Boyfriend on Demand’

Mi-rae’s next boyfriend on demand is Seo Eun-ho, played by Seo Kang-jun. Eun-ho is a popular university kumdo athlete who embodies that first-love vibe. Their romance is sweet, cute and innocent. Think campus crush, cherry blossoms, school trips and getting caught in the rain.

Another popular young actor who appears in a cameo as a boyfriend-on-demand is Lee Jae-wook. He plays a senior doctor who initially comes across as demanding, but is secretly courting Mi-rae—a dynamic she quickly recognises as the classic “scary boss with a secret crush” trope.

One of today’s hottest stars, Lee Jae-wook has appeared in numerous K-dramas, including Extraordinary You, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, Alchemy of Souls and, most recently, Last Summer.

Travel and fitness YouTuber and Physical: 100 contestant Seok Hyun-jun, also known as Modern Tarzan, makes a cameo as Mi-rae’s date in a setting reminiscent of Single’s Inferno. The scene playfully nods to the high-stakes flirting and sun-soaked drama typical of Korea’s reality dating shows.

Known for his roles in Mine and Remarriage & Desires, Lee Hyun-wook appears briefly as a prosecutor boyfriend. True to the genre’s familiar character archetype, he exudes the cool confidence and quiet authority that make the K-drama prosecutor such a dependable romantic fantasy.

Having covered the medical and legal genres, it’s only right to venture into period drama territory. Kim Young-dae appears as Mi-rae’s sworn enemy and sageuk-style boyfriend, channelling the high-stakes drama and courtly romance of historical K-dramas.

Kim Young-dae has recently made waves playing the male lead alongside Korea’s biggest actresses, including Kim You-jung in Dear X, Shin Min-a in No Gain, No Love, and Lee Sung-kyung in Shooting Stars.

In this scenario, Mi-rae has a secret relationship with Jay Park, who plays himself in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo.

In a special end credits scene in episode four, Lee Sang-yi appears as a firefighter whose heart burns for Mi-rae. You may know him from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Bloodhounds, Good Boy and Youth of May.

Not all of Mi-rae’s boyfriends in Boyfriend on Demand exist within the app. Kim Sung-cheol plays her ex-boyfriend and first love, Kim Se-jun—the man who broke her heart and left her disillusioned with dating when we first meet her. His lingering presence in her life serves as a reminder that while fantasy relationships may offer an escape, unresolved feelings from the past are far harder to log out of.

K-drama fans may recognise the actor from Our Beloved Summer, Sweet Home and his memorable cameo in Vincenzo.

When we first meet Gyeong-nam, he is aloof, uptight and shares a playfully antagonistic dynamic with Mi-rae. She may be blind to it, but stolen glances and his endless excuses to be near her betray his true feelings for her.

When her bespoke virtual boyfriend Gu Yeong-il looks exactly like Kyeong-nam, she starts seeing him in a new light. Eventually, she is forced to choose between virtual romance and a chance at real relationship.
