Ion Orchard’s Lunar New Year festivities are a visual feast, combining traditional performances with cutting-edge technology. A highlight of the celebration is the AI-designed “Fortune of the Year” installation at the Level 1 Atrium. The striking installation, featuring fan and mountain motifs, symbolises new beginnings, grandeur, and stability. This futuristic display offers insights into one’s luck, health, and career prospects for the year ahead, adding an innovative touch to the age-old tradition of seeking fortune during the Lunar New Year.

For those looking to connect with more familiar traditions, Ion Orchard delivers an impressive lineup of cultural performances. Shoppers can look forward to traditional lion dance performances on select dates throughout the festival, along with the Roving God Fortune mascot show. A special High Pole lion dance and dragon dance performance will take place on February 5, adding an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations. Additionally, visitors can engage with the timeless art of calligraphy during sessions running from January 24 to 31, allowing them to create their own symbols of luck and prosperity.
Ion Orchard’s chief executive officer Yeo Mui Hong notes that these festivities are not just about welcoming the new year—they are about “fostering strong family bonds and celebrating the enduring values of kinship and togetherness”. Whether with family or friends, visitors will find that Ion Orchard’s events offer a rich, immersive experience that draws on both cultural heritage and modern sensibilities.
Red packets, green initiatives
Ion+ Rewards members will enjoy a special treat with a set of red packets featuring fan motifs in a gold foil finish. Available in chic red and bold orange, these red packets can be redeemed with a minimum spend of $80 at Ion Orchard, while stocks last. Members will also have the chance to collect a custom mandarin orange carrier, further enhancing the celebratory spirit of the season.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, Ion Orchard is also promoting eco-conscious practices during this festive period. Shoppers can contribute to a greener future by dropping off their used or excess red packets at the red packet recycling bin near the Basement 1 Concierge Counter. These red packets will be pulped and transformed into other types of paper products, reducing waste while giving new life to old traditions.
Additionally, Ion Orchard has partnered with the Salvation Army to encourage donations of preloved clothing and accessories, providing an opportunity for visitors to declutter while supporting a good cause.
