Co-organised by Louis Koo, the inaugural mega-event brings Hollywood icons and rare collectibles to Hong Kong.
Comic Con makes its Hong Kong debut on May 29, transforming the Convention and Exhibition Centre into a pop culture sanctuary over three days.
Co-organised between Optics Ventures and One Cool Group, the entertainment company of legendary actor Louis Koo, who also serves as the event's official ambassador, the convention is designed to bridge worlds. "Our mission is to unite Western pop culture with original Eastern talent, fully leveraging Hong Kong’s unique advantage as a crossroads of East and West," Koo said.
While the city's animation expos have always leaned heavily toward Japanese anime, HKCC is rewriting the playbook. This landmark edition introduces an elevated mix of American comic lore, sci-fi cinema, and high-end collectible models. For discerning collectors and cinephiles alike, it promises an unprecedented platform to engage face-to-face with global creative masters, marking the most significant pop culture milestone Hong Kong has seen in years.

Hong Kong Comic Con boasts an eclectic selection of international talent. Headlining the exclusive "Meet the Stars" sessions, which includes 1:1 photo opportunities and autograph signings, is a tier of Hollywood heavyweights: Cannes' Best Actor Mads Mikkelsen; star of The Walking Dead and Death Stranding, Norman Reedus; the iconic Breaking Bad antagonist, Giancarlo Esposito; and Jamie Campbell Bower, who played Stranger Things’ formidable villain, Vecna.
For connoisseurs of the graphic medium, "Artist Alley" offers rare access to global masters. The roster includes industry godfather Bob Layton, Marvel and DC cover specialist Alan Quah, and Dexter Soy, the artist who defined the modern aesthetic of Captain Marvel. They are joined by acclaimed talents Stephen Segovia, Kael Ngu, and illustrator Agnes Garbowska.
Representing homegrown excellence, Star Wars: Thrawn artist Man-Seng (Tsang Wai-Man) and Golden Horse Award-winning animation chief FCP (Fung Chin-Pang) will also take the stage to unveil their highly anticipated collaborative comic project.
The ultimate crossover
The main stage is designed as a dynamic experience centred upon three core pillars: exclusive global press conferences on upcoming franchises, forward-looking industry forums led by pop culture titans, and a high-stakes Esports Arena featuring classic gaming tournaments.
The undisputed crown jewel of the weekend occurs on May 31 with the finale of the "Time Traveller Cosplay Challenge". In a brilliant piece of pop-culture synergy, the judging panel will feature a historic joint appearance by Koo, who pioneered Hong Kong's seminal time-travel drama A Step into the Past, and Christopher Lloyd, the legendary Doc Brown of Hollywood’s Back to the Future.
To mark the occasion, Koo will publicly showcase pieces from his private, 1:1 scale model collection for the first time. Additionally, Hot Toys will host the exclusive global debut of the "Tornado" 1:6 scale collectible figure from the cinematic hit Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In.
