If you're like most of us who grew up watching the ‘Final Destination’ film series, you’re probably part of the terrified generation rattled by the realistic accidents portrayed in each film. The series is back with ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’, promising an equally nerve-wracking experience
Remember that gut-wrenching feeling when you were driving behind a logging truck, about to board a plane or simply riding an escalator? For a generation, the Final Destination film series took us on a chilling journey where fate and death intertwine. These films weren’t just horror—they were dark, suspenseful and disturbingly realistic. They showed us how the most ordinary moments of our daily lives could spiral into deadly accidents.
When death calls, we have no choice but to answer. And if we try to escape, it will still come for us—one way or another. Now that Final Destination: Bloodlines is coming, the terrifying saga continues—and it’s just as haunting and real as the previous films over the years.

The movie begins with a flashback to where it all started—when death began its work, taking people one by one. But what was meant to be a tragedy turned out to be the heroic story of Iris Campbell (portrayed by Gabrielle Rose), the one who foresaw everything before it happened. But even though Iris saved many that day, the truth remains: when you interfere with death’s plans, things only get worse. Those who were saved will still meet their end.
While some might believe there are little to no lessons to take from such a grim plot, the story offers insights into the harsh realities of life—truths that everyone should recognise and embrace. Just like Iris, who spent decades compiling a book on how to avoid accidents, hoping it would protect her family from death’s grasp.

1. Life is precious—fragile and unpredictable
This isn’t exactly a new lesson from the Final Destination franchise—each movie is proof that life is precious. But, in Final Destination: Bloodlines, this message is emphasised even more, as the plot fully embraces the movie’s tagline: “Death runs in the family.” While the characters spend so much time trying to escape the deaths of their family members, in the end, it all feels like a waste of time and energy. Eventually, we witness how their family loses sight of the value of life and living—how fragile and unpredictable it truly is.
2. Communication is key
In the latest film, Stefani (portrayed by Kaitlyn Santa Juana), Iris’s granddaughter, inherits Iris’s book on how to avoid accidents. She also inherits the gift of seeing premonitions, just as Iris did before she died. With all this, Stefani does her best to be transparent with her family, hoping that warning them they’re all going to die will motivate them to help her prevent it. But convincing her family won’t be easy—a few deaths will need to occur before they start taking Stefani seriously.
3. Death is inevitable

Don’t try to outsmart death. Final Destination: Bloodlines initially gives viewers hope that death can be avoided—so long as the chain is broken by locking the next person in line inside a “safe house.” But the truth is, death is inevitable, and it always will be. Life might have been far better for the characters had they simply accepted this reality. Then again, the franchise thrives on the inventive ways its characters attempt to cheat death—even though we all know they never can.

4. Live in the present

Make sure to cherish the time you have with the people you love. This is what’s often missing in the Final Destination films, as they tend to focus more on what’s about to happen rather than what’s happening in the moment. In Final Destination: Bloodlines, the characters are so fixated on staying safe and avoiding death that they forget to actually live—especially while they’re still together. After all, the present is just as important as the future.
5. Be mindful of your surroundings

But don’t be paranoid. Don’t lock yourself away out of fear. It’s like everyday life—where you avoid a manhole, walk quickly past scaffolding or cross the street responsibly. You don’t need to stay in one “safe” place for the rest of your life to avoid death; you just need to be mindful of where you are and what’s around you. The characters show what it means to be cautious—like carefully stepping into a revolving door, knowing that anything could happen. Even something as ordinary as a door could cost you your life. And if you let your guard down for even a second, death could be just a breath away—without you ever seeing it coming.
