The local girl group is the latest Malaysian act to grace Spotify’s New York Times Square Billboard

This week, Malaysian K-pop-inspired girl group sensation, Dolla, was featured in Times Square New York on Spotify's billboard. The group was selected as the Malaysian representative for Spotify's EQUAL campaign, which aims to highlight female artists from around the world.

A relatively new group to the local music industry, Dolla's members comprise Wan Sabrina Wan Rusli (Sabronzo), Tabitha Ariel Lam (Tabby), Angelina Chai Ka Ying (Angel) and Noorsyasya Afiqah Shahrizal (Syasya). The group rose to fame following the release of their debut single Dolla Make You Wanna in 2020. Their second single, Impian garnered a million views on YouTube in two weeks, gaining attention from local and international media across Southeast Asia and South Korea.

“This is such a huge honour for a newly formed vocal group like us and we hope we can continue to live up to the expectations of our fans,” said Sabronzo, the group's main rapper and main dancer.

Dolla was the third Malaysian act to be featured on the Times Square billboard, after internationally-acclaimed artist Yuna and multilingual Malaysian singer Layla Sania. Following the release of their festive single Raya Raya Raya earlier in 2021, Dolla's latest hit, Berani, was released on digital platforms from September 24.
